VIZ has the rights to it. Four volumes are out so far. You can buy it digitally here http://www.vizmanga.com/my-love-story or in print here http://www.viz.com/manga/print/my-love-story

I asked CR, and they said if another company is releasing a series digitally, the chances of that series getting added on CR is very low.

Wikipedia says there are 24 or so chapters out so far, but only 10 or so chapters are translated here in America. Man, I wish I could speak, write, read, and understand Japanese language. I would start up a crew to translate this series!

I looked this up because I was curious: in standard English Measurements, Takeo is 6' 5.5" and 265 lbs. That's roughly the size of an NFL Linebacker, or a NCAA Lineman.

By point of comparison:

The average adult, non-elderly Japanese Male is 5' 7.5" ; that's more than 2 inches shorter than the average American non-elderly Male (which is just under 5' 10").

The average Japanese adult Male weighs about 150 lbs; in the US it's closer to 195 lbs. (Note that aggregated weight estimates are notoriously fickle.)

That means that Takeo has 10" and 100 lbs on all of his teachers. (And likely more on his classmates, many of whom won't have finished growing yet.)

Also, note that Suna is shown as shorter than Takeo... but not by a massive amount. The way he's drawn, he's probably something like 6' tall, which would still make him extremely tall in Japan--although standing next to Takeo it wouldn't be as noticeable. It begs the question: does Suna owe at lest some of his popularity to the fact that he's always seen with Takeo?

I think Suna had to be drawn that way or else he'd look ridiculous next to Takeo. :-) And he'd probably be popular no matter what...he's just drawn that way (a la Jessica Rabbit)...

I have the first three books and in the Q&A at the back of book two, the artist mentions that she had visualised Takeo as large, but it was the editor who gave his physical stats in the summary of volume 1...consequently, she wound up drawing him to look even bigger in the subsequent volumes. She said was "shocked" and his build was also originally more square and as it has gone on he's gotten rounder.

Thanks for the info. Usually I look around for such info but I guess I haven't gotten around to it. Thanks!

Just bought the first four volumes, looking forward to see if the series keeps up the greatness after chapter 10.

2-3, though the chapters tend to be on the long side; the volumes still check in at about the usual 150 pages (give or take). To give you an idea, the first three episodes of the anime cover chapter 1.

I adore this manga so much! I picked it up on a whim and have not been disappointed so far! I'm a little leery of watching the anime, just in case they muck up the story... but I'll probably cave once my current docket of shows is done

I had zero expectations towards "My Love Story". Ever since I started reading the manga & watched the anime series, I haven't look back. But, I'm tad bit worried about the anime version & you're not the only one who's worry about it (its totally different versus manga)

Oh! That's terrible, now I almost want to watch it more, just so I can shake my head at how much has changed >_< (I'm sure there's a word for that XD )
