Keep it clean folks, if you have nothing to say other than a general insult to the thread users please remember the forums rules stress that being respectful of other users is a requirement not a suggestion. Let's keep the posts on topic and honor the OP's wishes for reasonable discussion.

I heard you guys are even discriminated against in gay and lezbian communities, that sucks. But yeah, TRANS UNITE!!! (I'm not a tranny, just a supporter).

Just for curiosity's sake, how many trans members have you identified thus far?

I remember you, Nalaniel, and OP from the previous thread... And it tends be you two and I think one other that seem open about it on the forums.

seems like some weird poll counting, I'm sure, but again just curious, (i'd like to say when it next comes up for discussion that we have maybe more than 4. :P)

I'm surprised, but very happy to see, that this thread hasn't been besieged.

I am transgender, but I'm not going to ever transition. Still okay for me to join in?

Please try not to refer to us as trannies. It is a slur used to dehumanize trans people, and just something quite a few are not comfortable with.

I know several that refer to them selves as trannies and several that also do not. Not all are uncomfortable with it. The title that someone may go by is typically based off of past experiences and things they have learned. I strongly believe that if you are uncomfortable with a term but someone used that term while also trying to support you then not only kindly correct there terminology but you should also thank them for openly showing support. Im from a rather small town in ohio and the only term i was taught was tranny i also thought it meant drag queens. Not because i myself am ignorant but more beacuse in the area im from people didnt know what transgender was. I had no idea until my second year in college and i started looking into what it meant. About a year later i started to identify as transgender and the town im from and my family know more about as well.

Sorry for the random rant.

My bad, I've never met an actual trans person despite living in a major city. What do I call you guys then? Just trans or trans people?

Perhaps a short Glossary of appropriate terminology terms would be a useful addition to the groups public page.

Not trans — perfectly happy with who I am, but I support the community; power to you nerds. Ignore the haters.

I identify as genderfluid. I accept nearly every term when addressing me however.

Why would it not be okay for you to join in?

It's always nice to be gentle with those who don't come equipped with the same politically correct hoops I bring to the party. It's easy to forget that people aren't trying to be offensive. They just don't know.

I honestly haven't been keeping score. I figure the ones who want to discuss things further will join the group. At a rough guess I'm gonna say 8. a least 4 for sure and few more that I recall from this thread. It's nice to know you have company.

I'm not transgender, but I am non-binary. I'm super happy this is a thread! Even though there isn't a lot of activity, it's good to see peeps being open about gender and identity.
