I'm not transgender, but I am non-binary. I'm super happy this is a thread! Even though there isn't a lot of activity, it's good to see peeps being open about gender and identity.

Everyone has been given the right to exist ...its what one makes of it; I will disagree with the notion that most people who disagree with the transnarrative are "hateful bigots" or unkind.

I'm technically under the B section of the LGBT umbrella. I say be what you want to be, just don't be ridiculous about it. As in, don't use bullcrap pronouns like "zie/zir" or "it/its" because those are just plain stupid.

What's ridiculous about them and why do you care so much? I think such pronouns are often useful.

Ah I'm nonbinary demigirl!
I didn't figure out my gender until I was 16.
All I knew was I didn't feel like I fit in with boys or cis girls.
But now I'm happy and content with my gender!

I'm also happy to see a group like this on CR!
I have been here on and off for a good six years and have never seen anything like this!

Humans aren't objects, that's why I object to it/its, IMHO.
Not everyone agrees with me, I get it, but "it/its" has been used to dehumanize trans people in the past. Also, I don't refer to humans as objects, ever.

Also, someone I hate uses them. Lol.

I agree that it/its, because it is a pronoun traditionally used to refer to objects not people, sounds rude and dehumanizing. But what's wrong with neologisms such as zie/zir created especially to refer to people whose gender one doesn't know, or to people who prefer to have a non-gendered pronoun used to refer to themselves. Hating a potentially useful word to the point of calling it "bullcrap" or "just plain stupid" because someone you know uses it, seems kind of, well, stupid to me.

People who reject the gender binary need pronouns too.

That's what they/them is for though?

I just have problems accepting neopronouns. I can't say them or type them without chuckling a bit… whether or not they've been used for (x) amount of time is irrelevant, the problem is my lack of familiarity with them and how silly they sound makes it difficult for me to use them. I just think most nb people would prefer to use they/them, because those pronouns have a level of familiarity. I've never seen them used before I accessed tumblr. There's nothing wrong with having an auxiliary set that people can understand?

Also, I think that… in a sense, we all have fluctuating levels of what is considered "masculine" and "feminine", so I really am skeptical of the existence of things like "demigirl/demiboy" existing because in a sense we all have fluctuating levels of what is taught to be "masculine" and "feminine". I think gender dysphoria is required to be trans. I think it needs to be. At least, medically. You don't choose to be trans, that's what I think. Ive felt like sexuality and gender isn't a "choice" per se. I've more or less felt attraction to guys and girls for what feels like the chunk of my life I've had attractions to ppl, it just took me a while to recognize it.

Either way. whatever.

Not trans, I'm just very femme, and also LGBT ♥

So to the person that said CR is homophobic, you're just silly <3
People should be happy with who they are and have a place to discuss it. Just my thoughts though

This thread makes me happy. I'm not trans at all, but just reading some of the comments here makes me feel like I should be more self-confident.

Out of plain ignorance, how many genders are there? Is it just [Male/Female/Neither/Both] or are there more?

I can't really say how many there are, because there are some that date back to ancient civilizations!
I'll put it under a spoiler button just for the fact its a long list!
