Here's my top ten. It's kind of a makeshift list, but it has the general feel for who I think is the best. Updated so that the images aren't as massive.

1: Kerry King of Slayer( A Personal Favorite )

2: Jimi Hendrix ( A given, for most people )

3: Adrian Smith of Iron Maiden ( Another Personal Favorite )

4: Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin

5: David Gilmour of Pink Floyd

I hope that he still has some great music ahead of him. I'm looking forward to the future. I want at least one more classic album from him before The White Stripes get in the rock hall of fame.

MFW White stripes will get in before Sonic Youth, Pixies, Joy Division, Cheap Trick, Husker Du, and Black Flag.

In all seriousness Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a stupid and arbitrary institution that fails to recognize the historical important innovators of various movements in rock music.

I agree on the rock hall failing to recognize culturally significant acts that aren't visible to the casual music listener, but The White Stripes deserve to be in there. Maybe not more than Joy Division, the Pixies, or possibly Sonic Youth (imo, they're way better than them), but definitely more than Cheap Trick, Husker Du, and Black Flag.

Holy s**t, Joy Division though. Get them in there! First priority. F**k Green Day, Pearl Jam, and whatever else trash they're putting in. They're putting Ringo Starr in, for Christ's sake. That's what you do when you run out of artists to put in there, and they sure as hell haven't!!!

Black Flag
Was the first independent band to tour around the country without label backing(before most bands just played shows in there local city they were the first to travel cross country)
Pretty much formed the independent touring network
Started what was basically the first modern american indie label SST(before indie labels just served local areas)
Influenced thousands of hardcore bands
Promoted such influential acts on there label such as Meat Puppets, Husker Du(ill get to them), Sonic Youth, and Minutemen
Along with Bad Brains and Minor Threat developed the hardcore punk sound

Husker Du
First major Hardcore band to add melody to there style influencing a huge amount of Alt Rock, Pop Punk, and Post Hardcore bands.
Released Zen Arcade considered by many to be one of the greatest rock albums ever

Cheap trick
I just like cheap trick they had more humor than there contemporaries . Still pretty influential on Alt rock though.

Black Flag deserves to be in more than any other 80s band.
