BOOM!
The New Orleans Pelicans
First thing that popped into my head . . . . .

The Utah Jazz . . . . I just cannot think of Utah and Jazz being remotely synonymous... not in this universe anyway...

There is a minor league hockey team called the Erie Otters. That makes me laugh, cause usually a team's mascot is supposed to be slightly intimidating. I honestly think otters are cute, so I can imagine just a bunch of cute otters with hockey sticks, instead of something like the Tampa Bay Lightning, or San Jose Sharks or something like that.

Though in their defense I kinda like the unorthodox animal used for the name. Next we need the Cleveland Meerkats or something like that.

The Buffalo Bills and the New York Yets. Then again I am biased since my uncles from Boston and made me a Patriots fan and I absolutely hate those teams.

Never liked the name change from the Washington Bullets to the Wizards. At least we have the old style uniform's and logo back but still not the same.

I love my Nats too but I wish they went with the old, old baseball team name, the Washington Senators.

See, this is one of the reasons I don't watch sports. They already have pretty dumb names.

Think they used to be the New Orleans Jazz, but...can we propose a new league rule that a team changes name when it changes location/ownership?

Any teamed named the "Trojans": In the only story about the Trojans, they lose. Why would you name a team after a bunch of losers?

And considering that's your first association with "Trojans"...

I think that the Montreal Canadiens is pretty stupid. There's about seven NHL teams based in Canada. What makes Montreal so special that it gets to name its team after its whole country?

To be honest, all sports team names sound the same to me. They are all equally boring.

There's no originality in the vast majority. It's usually an animal, a group of people, or some weird word with an "-er" added at the end.

Just letting you know that the there is no NBA team called the Charlotte Bobcats anymore, they changed their name this past year back to the Charlotte Hornets.

The only one I can really think of as odd is the New Orleans Pelicans. I mean come on! It just sounds silly.

The Utah Jazz were previously located in New Orleans and were known as the New Orleans Jazz. I'm sure you can see the correlation there. When they decided to relocate to Salt Lake they just kept the name.

The more you know! haha
