Looks like it's gonna be another game centered around human augmentation, probably no where near as good as HR. TBH I've haven't really cared for any COD game recently, although the storyline looks compelling enough. Certainly interested for the release trailer soon.

Thoughts?

Haven't played any CoD game since MW2 and I don't intend on getting the next one coming up either.
Not because I think they're bad games, I think the call of duty games are solid, but they're all the fucking same with a tiny amount of augmentations between each title, and sometimes none at all besides new skins.

I am voting with my wallet on the manner.

I really couldn't care less. I might rent it when it comes out, but that's about it.

I'm a huge fan of Treyarch's CODs. I'm so glad they're the ones who made it this year. The past couple ones have been complete crap. I've watched the trailer, wasn't that impressed since it just looks like Advanced Warfare 2 mixed with a little bit of Black Ops 2. Anyways, I still have hopes for Treyarch! Especially for the zombies. =^.^=

It will likely be the worst selling COD in memory because of dropping the PS3/360 from the line up. Pissing away 160 million console user base for prettier graphics and maybe more stuff on screen.

Well of course they are fucking the same, it's a franchise. They have to do it. Besides there isn't much they can do differently with the story, without adding some space travel or space magic, but doing so will ruin the franchise completely. How do you propose they make this COD different? Although I haven't played it, this years Advanced Warfare introduced exo skeletons to COD, is that "a tiny amount of augmentations"?

They could start by not saturating their own franchise by releasing their games annually. Several people such as myself have gotten fatigued by now, especially since there are very minor innovations with each subsequent entry. To me, it seems like I've already played this game back when it was called Modern Warfare.

Interesting commentary article about CoD I stumbled upon over the weekend.

People said AW was like Titanfall. Welp, now its REALLY like Titanfall with its flow of movement and wall running and whatnot.

The Deus Ex thing, welp everytime someone makes a game about human cybernetic implants its always about the boundary between man and machine and the morality and ethics involved with that....which I guess Deus Ex really did popularize. Of course, judging by the trailer and the dialogue in it, it doesnt to be that deep or complicated. More like, youre a weapon not a soldier blahblahblah.

I also notice lots of the character models look too similar to the soldiers out of Blacklight Tango Down and Blacklight Retribution.

Graphically, I think it looks worse than AW, but the AW premiere gameplay trailer was primarily in the dark where they were showing off the lighting and reflections and whatnot which made it look better so can't tell. If anything it's the same or less in my eyes.

But, I think CoD is basically dead. After Ghosts, which was almost universally hated, fanboys became disillusioned. I played a good amount of CoD until BO2 where I had no urge to jump back in like 2-3 months later. Ghosts, which I played for like 50 hours in total, which is pretty good considering I despised it. I was just hoping after all these updates things were getting fixed so I kept coming back to see. AW, put in like 10 hours campaign+multiplayer, so definitely not worth the money.

They're also being way more money-grabby now which doesn't help anyone either obviously. They basically popularized selling season passes and people hated them for such expensive DLC and whatnot. But in BO2 when they introduced all the camo packs and extra loadout slots and whatever, that's when shit got real. No one really minded, until Ghosts with its Snoop Dog voice overs and Weed camo and a bunch of other useless junk. But, but, but, that's all cosmetic. Then AW just released the option to buy the supply drops for like 2 bucks or something and now people that drop even more money open so many and get all the good weapons. People paided like 120 dollars for AW with the Season Pass and now they have to pay even more? This could become a p2w model if it keeps continuing like this.

BO3 has those character classes on top of loadouts or something, right? If they start locking off new characters (which might be better than the ones regular players can get) behind paywalls like Evolve and expand on this supply drop system, it could become p2w. D:

People saw Evolve and they complained about the business model and how they promoted crap tons of DLC. People hated on ArcheAge which ruined itself with its pay model. Now we're getting stuff like Mortal Kombat with the easy fatality tokens you can buy that everyones pissing themselves over. Activision was the king of money grabs back then. So while everyone complains about all these new payment models, Activision might be thinking about what great ideas they are. Who knows, all these speculation which I've summarized in this post that I see people complaining about could be true, or it could exceed their worst nightmares,......or it could be the opposite. Let's see Treyarch and Activision, let's see.

Are you kidding me? Can't tell if you're trolling or not, but of course they can do things differently.
How about every other franchise ever that isn't fucking Battlefield and Call of Duty, they've got it figured out.

A good example being Final Fantasy, although controversial as of recent years, there's no denying that they are doing something different with every single title in the franchise.

First of all, COD and final fantasy are two completely different types of games.
Final fantasy is a fantasy rpg game, and since it is a rpg there is a ridiculous amount of new things to add. Final fantasy can basically add whatever they want, can COD do that? How would you have reacted if Infinity Ward or Treyarch suddenly decided to have a dragon in COD? Does a fucking dragon fit in with COD? While I'm not saying COD is 100 % realistic, it is far more realistic than final fantasy. And because it is like that there is only so much they can add.

How do you want to change COD? Give me a decent storyline without any fantasy aspects and something no fps have done before. And of course, without ruining the franchise for existing fans. It's easier said than done.

Oh my god you're one of those people.
At what point did I say they needed to add rpg elements and dragons?

I'm only gonna say this one more time, and if you can't comprehend that just don't bother, it's a waste of time trying to have a discussion with someone who treats it like a competition.

YES they CAN change the CoD formula, several games has done it before, Medal of Honor was a succesful military FPS that did many different things in its time before it simply became an irrelevant franchise, mainly because we are being drowned with regurgitated bullshit like Call of Duty and Battlefield who has discovered that there is in fact an audience that will buy EVERY single game they put out regardless of approach.
Another example to this popular marketing strategy is Ubisoft's Assassins Creed series.

It's not about comparing two different genres in games with one another, it's for the sake of making you understand that a franchise can do something different with its franchise and still be succesful.
If you can't understand that, then I frankly have no idea what to tell you.

Disregarding everything else that has been said. I doubt I will be getting this COD. I gave AW a try and hated it. I love competitive play and for me simple is best for that. Halo and COD have been my main games but both seem to be lacking what they use to have. I play Halo 90% of the time still because I still feel like there is something to the multi-player scene for me (not talking about how many people are on but just how competitive play feels). AW was awful for me mainly because of exo suits and this looks like it's worse. All my opinion. To much goes into Campaign and not into multi-player. I come for the campaign but stay and remember a game because of online with my friends.
