How about Lovely Complex? It's a shojo anime about a girl and a guy that are a comedy duo, but then the girl, Risa, starts to have a crush on Otani. You can watch the rest to get the rest of the plot.

OH I love lovely complex, I was trying to get ones on crunchyroll or are we Australians missing out on heaps XD

Oh never mind! I thought you were talking about good anime recommendations in general haha. Maybe try pressing the dice button over by your profile menu?

XD That was a lovely feature they put in but not all shows are amazing, I'm trying to get the good ones on crunchyroll XD but I really do like lovely complex

A few that I think deserve to be more popular than they are:

Usagi Drop: Pure slice-of-life goodness. If you ever think you want to be a parent, or you know, ever had parents of your own, then watch this show.

The Eccentric Family: A about a family of shape-shifting tanuki and their interactions with humans. If you are looking for a funny, dramatic, and altogether different anime, this is it.

ef: Tale of Memories: Two interwoven love stories, with art by SHAFT (the Monogatari and Nisekoi folks). Beautiful visuals, and a school-aged, non-shoujo romance that isn't a harem.

Otome Youkai Zakuro: About a small military unit assigned to a Youkai-Human relations task force. Creative, visually interesting, clever world building, and decent romance.

Mysterious Girlfriend X: A really sweet and funny romance, with a confession in the first episode... as long as you don't mind all of the drool sucking.

Listen to Me Girls, I'm Your Father: College-aged boy agrees to care for his three nieces (one blood, two step-) after his sister and her husband die. Walks up to the loli line, but never crosses it; instead, you get a pretty sweet series about a patchwork family fighting to stay together.

Mysterious Girlfriend X's manga is actually decently popular, I don't understand why the anime isn't as big.

any fav anime list with Cuticle Detective Inaba in it is a good list, imho. I would also recommend this one, as it made me laugh so much.
________

This is my list of unpopular anime that are good, imo.

1. Flowers of Evil

On the surface, it just feels and seems your like typical high school and simple love story gone wrong; but beneath the surface, lies a series full of rich characterisation, and deep meanings, for example, the criticism of the Japanese's way of life and being too disciplined in one's own manners and disregarding your "true" self to fit in with the society's standards. Acting out of character when you become too "attached" to someone... whether out of deluded love or "real" love.

It's almost a satire of common shoujo anime.

I personally think the main message in this anime is that the people we think are fucked up are not the fucked ones, it's the normal people that are fucked up because they're too stringent in their disciplined and sheltered life... they're unable to cater to those who deviates from the norm.

2. Natsu no Arashi

This is a very funny series; it may take several episodes to understand and to get used to the plot... but once you do, you'll be hooked. It has that classic anime humour kind of feel to it. And towards the end, it's pretty sad.

3. Ixion Saga DT

Another underrated gem on Crunchyroll. This series is super duper funny... I don't know why it isn't more popular... but hey, I don't get to decide how popular a series is... and I feel like most of the unpopular anime is aimed at me or something :X

4. Senyu

This 3 minute/episode anime is seriously the funniest short anime... it will send you to the hospital for stomach ache!

I'm not the only one to have liked "R-15", a pretty unique ecchi show. And what about "Walkure Romanze", or "Blade and Soul"?
