Hi,
So I am happily engaged to my future wife, and she is very accepting of my lifestyle involving anime/manga/video games/Japanese culture in general. She is willing to watch or read series with me, and I've tried to show her certain things, but I want to expose her to things she'll potentially enjoy that aren't too weird.

I'm a huge fan of gory horror manga and then fantasy, magical girl, and mecha anime. Some of the things I'm really into seem too complicated or extreme for her just getting into this.

What would you suggest I show her? She is 23, likes cute stuff, tough girls, and ~*actually going outside*~. I just want to share one of my biggest passions with her without forcing it or making her feel like she has to pretend to like something.

Any advice is good! Thank you!

I'd start with the short, sweet slice of life animes.

Then as you move into action, go add some hints of mecha or horror.

Try easing them in.

Thank you! These are all good suggestions! The only anime she's ever really watched are Urusei Yatsura (She actually cosplayed for the first time as school girl Lum for Anime Boston a few weeks ago), Video Girl Ai, Ranma 1/2, and parts of the first season of Chaika the Coffin Princess. I have a lot of anime on VHS so I haven't seen a lot of new series, so I personally am also branching out.

I actually got a Crunchyroll premium account so we could watch more anime together, so this is awesome. We watched the first episode of The World Only God Knows last night and she was into it! Maybe that's another hint of what she might like. Thanks!
