I remember reading something where you can ask an admin to ban you, so you don't get distracted when you have an upcoming exam or something.

Wait what? That's seriously awesome. I need this.

Yeah, usually there's a forum topic by Admins and you can post on it to get a temporary ban.
(Not sure if anyone would ask for a perma ban )
But I'm pretty sure you could just ask an Admin too

Edit:
The topic usually pops up somewhere near Exam time ^^

try it and see... what i just wrote would be banned worthy as well. but yea a famous cr user was banned for months on end for cursing. some mods are nice and deletes it but leaves a message telling you not to curse though. so you do get warnings sometimes.

I recently received this private message from someone on CR:

Went to check their profile and found...

Banned until 3015. So maybe an influx of spammers and trolls now that some schools are on break. Could also be people that were previously banned making new accounts to troll and what not...

Anger is an energy.

Must of taken a lot to get banned for 100 years

You can get warned for it, it depends if you direct it at someone. I got off with a warning for telling the mods to do something quite vulgar.

That would be awesome because I have a Final on Tuesday....and then a presentation on Wednesday, a Business Plan on Sunday, A final on Monday, and then my last final on Wednesday. But really, I just need the internet to shut down. Because if I'm not on CR, I'm on FB or YT, or just.....cats XD But yeah.

That's really cool of the mods and of CR to have that option.

I once saw someone get banned (I took part in the discussion/thread that caused him to get banned; both pre- and post-ban). It was kind of horrible. It was on a thread asking women about why they would/wouldn't date a guy, or something of that ilk, and you can probably already guess some of what the guy did just from that.
He posted some slightly anti-women sentiments, and then started arguing with one woman about what she had answered. The argument went awful; he said nasty things about her thoughts, she defended them fairly logically, then he said nasty things about her (sometimes couched as being about her thoughts, but they obviously weren't), and she tried to defend herself while remaining (moderately) civil. He began getting nasty about women generally as well. When the argument wasn't going his way - and that occurred quickly because her thoughts and arguments were logical, whether or not one agreed with them on a personal level, so others weren't backing him up while some did back her - he got a second account to have a second voice go against her. This one remained "logical" and didn't attack her on a personal level, but it supported his main account and tried to turn others against her; it also seemed to waver a bit on the "women are horrible creatures" agenda, being decidedly not pro-women but remaining more moderate in its disdain for women. It was a pretty horrid bullying tactic, targeted partially against women generally and partially against this one woman personally. It was like a mini-GamerGate came to crunchyroll, with (I think it was WhiskyTangoFoxtrot) as the "evil feminist taking away all things good." Because clearly WhiskyTangoFoxtrot has an evil feminist agenda?
It took a better part of a day for this person to get banned.

So when someone is permabanned, do you see their username plus the word 'banned', or...is there nothing where the avatar and text goes. I've noticed sometimes certain posts have text, but there is no username, no avatar, no other text in the field to the left of the post. What is that about? People who requested their CR accounts to be closed? Permabans of users?

Hmm, I remember a lot of people used to frequently create quote pyramids. Don't know if you get banned for that but I haven't seen too many of them recently.

That's because it isn't officially published yet - comes out Tuesday

Was the one he wrote on the sex pistols good? (I love hearing him interviewed and I quite like both Sex Pistols and PIL, but I've not read anything he wrote)

Obligatory on-topic: we might warn for or delete extreme off-topic posts that completely derail a thread, but it would be rare to ban someone just for occasionally posting otherwise unobjectionable off-topic posts.

I dunno. Some of the feminists on Crunchy are pretty awful towards women. But in that condescending hipster way where they think ain't no one smart enough to realize what punks they being.

Kids these days. Making bigotry chic and haute couture.

I thought it was interesting alot of it focused on breaking myths. It offered a different view of Sid and himself than one would expect. Also he really hates Malcolm.

I might pick the new one up. Metal Box/Second Edition is a very important record for me. First "weird" album I bought.

Freakin quote system.
