It's officially Ho Chi Minh City yes, but some still prefer to call it Saigon. As I was raised, my parents called it Saigon so I guess that's why I do too. Some businesses still have Saigon in their name.
Either way, both are acceptable. I guess Saigon is more casual, and Ho Chi Minh City is more formal.

Thank you for indulging my curiosity.

A lot of them who make troll-y comments or jerky comments are banned for whatever reason. You can also be banned for making posts that are too "pornographic". Among other things. There's a lot of things that can get you banned, if you think about it. Some don't even read the site rules. Some simply turn a blind eye to them "for the lulz".

I remember the days of Vega and Carbo, both whom are banned now for at least a couple years, lol.

Well, I don't know if quote pyramids are necessarily breaking site rule per se -- but they are a bit excessive, so it's understandable that they'd cause a sort of… problem. It's kind of like when I used to be on tumblr and people would post comment stacks atop comment stacks. it'd become so excessive that all the text from the earlier comments would be obstructed.

Banned until 3015. So maybe an influx of spammers and trolls now that some schools are on break. Could also be people that were previously banned making new accounts to troll and what not...

Anger is an energy.

Whoa banned for 1000 years.... Seems legit

It is against the rules but I don't think many people, if any, have been banned for it for any length of time. LIke it says in the rule below, and from what I have seen, the moderators just delete stuff when it happens and give a warning. They gave a lot of warnings when it was happening one time and just cleaned up the posts that were an issue before they did anything more. I would assume any ban for that would be like a day or something.

9.4 Avoid Quote Pyramids
Refrain from quoting excessively. When quoting someone, use only the portion of the quote that is absolutely necessary. This includes quoting pictures! Chain-quotes are just an annoyance for everyone and they are easy to prevent. Anymore than 3 quoted extensions will be automatically deleted by moderators

I once saw someone get banned (I took part in the discussion/thread that caused him to get banned; both pre- and post-ban). It was kind of horrible. It was on a thread asking women about why they would/wouldn't date a guy, or something of that ilk, and you can probably already guess some of what the guy did just from that.
He posted some slightly anti-women sentiments, and then started arguing with one woman about what she had answered. The argument went awful; he said nasty things about her thoughts, she defended them fairly logically, then he said nasty things about her (sometimes couched as being about her thoughts, but they obviously weren't), and she tried to defend herself while remaining (moderately) civil. He began getting nasty about women generally as well. When the argument wasn't going his way - and that occurred quickly because her thoughts and arguments were logical, whether or not one agreed with them on a personal level, so others weren't backing him up while some did back her - he got a second account to have a second voice go against her. This one remained "logical" and didn't attack her on a personal level, but it supported his main account and tried to turn others against her; it also seemed to waver a bit on the "women are horrible creatures" agenda, being decidedly not pro-women but remaining more moderate in its disdain for women. It was a pretty horrid bullying tactic, targeted partially against women generally and partially against this one woman personally. It was like a mini-GamerGate came to crunchyroll, with (I think it was WhiskyTangoFoxtrot) as the "evil feminist taking away all things good." Because clearly WhiskyTangoFoxtrot has an evil feminist agenda?
It took a better part of a day for this person to get banned.

wow someonelse who uses phonetic alphabet I'm now curious about this WTF person.

I am too.
Although I believe you may actually be the one in the story. Oh, random people using the phonetic alphabet.

No, I didn't report them. They were already banned before I read my PM. Someone else reported them. Probably for something else, I though, as that PM isn't overly offensive. No idea what he was banned 100 years for. Probably a spammer.

Yeah, they're a known troll. If anyone sees that kind of message, just report. It's likely the same user again, and will get banned or nuked again shortly after. Then we can all move on to actual productive things in life and continue to ignore their wailing and gnashing of teeth.

I've found over the years that the most unfortunate thing about moderating a forum is how easy it is to change your IP address. Damn persistent trolls.

I'm halfway surprised that I've not been banned, but I've never really been disrespectful even in the arguments I've been in here. My opinions are largely unpopular, though, so there's that. Glad that I was never labelled as a troll or something.

The mods here seem to do a good job. Not too heavy with the banhammer, but not too light.
