I think Gintama.

Not even. Japan isn't even an empire in Gintama since it took an alternative route to history.

Gintama did made fun of one their politician did other day. What I trying to say is that is there going to be anime who do that, is probably going to be Gintama who does it first. I mean they already made fun of one politician. And knowing Gintama they are not going to stop there. CR even have a news article about it.

There's a fine line between mocking politicians and mocking a man once worshipped as a god. It would be like Gintama making a joke about Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Comedy is comedy. I get what you are saying but that up to the author to decide what he want to turn into comedy. And I think he has the balls to do it if he want. I don't think he would but I do believe he has the balls to do it.

It isn't about balls, it's about the type of comedy that the series is. A little over half of the comedy in Gintama comes from running jokes and wacky personalities, and the rest are a mix of toilet humor, sexual innuendo, pop culture references, historical references (for a given era), and other gags. Once in a blue moon, the show will have real satire.

You chalk it up to the author having balls, but the truth is that Sorachi avoids being blatantly insensitive. He's content to poke fun at everyone, but he does have his limits. Even if he does do Hirohito, or any WWII content, there will be lines that he absolutely will not cross.

That's considered taboo in Japan.

Sengoku Basara does parody some aspects of Japanese feudal structure ,Chambara, Code of Bushido, anime dance routines, but I don't remember it going much beyond that. Many series parody Japanese,US, and international governments with barely veiled disguises billed as futuristic dystopias. The Legend of the Galactic Heroes spends 110 episodes as a meandering treatise on democracy, autocracy and socialism with some of the views expressed by the characters can be construed as waxing satiric.

South Park has made fun of Japan a few times. Then again that is American. I'd like to say South Park has balls, but even they got scared of Muslim extremists and censored episodes 200 and 201 heavily, then pulled them completely along with the 'Super Best Friends' episode that featured Mohammad.

Gintama has made fun of Shoguns quite a bit, but never the Emperor.

I would actually say Pride is the greatest sin of all. It makes you do stupidly pointless things for no other reason than the fact that you think you are somehow inherently above doing something. Japan is an extremely proud country, and it's because of that, that they are incredibly stressed out workaholics with a declining birth rate. As the saying goes, "Pride comes before the fall."

I should add even though I sometimes reference the bible, I am not religious. I'd call myself an agnostic at best. It's just that you can't be wrong all the time, and even the bible does contain genuine words of wisdom.
