Hmm have to be my middle school math teacher that we all call Mr.Scott ( I was in a international school )

He is both anime otaku and gamer. One time he showed us an old anime movie because our class was apparently ahead of schedule.

He even called me a newbie when he saw me playing dota with friends in the library after school. I was feeding hard as spectre and told me to build MoM and Sange/Yasha on her to gank the hell out of lone players. Think it was like back in Dota 6.40 or something like that. He even joined a local tournament dota 1 vs 1 and got second place that time.

Aww talking about this makes me remember those old dota 1 days. Still remembered me thinking agility heros are horrible and should be reworked while intel hero are the best when i started out dota.

I've had the same kinda experience I remember, I was talking to my friend about cs:go and all the sudden my I.T teacher started to laugh at me and told me I sucked at it and that he could do better blindfolded :P

For some reason I immediately thought of GTO Paradise Lost haha. Probably the silliest manga I've read but still addictive for some reason.

But on topic,
That sounds awesome. I always loved when I related to my professors in college. I never had a professor who liked anime or otaku culture, but I did relate heavily to two or three. It was a big change from high school, where I kind of viewed my teachers as the enemy.

It was nice being able to talk to my professors outside of class about topics that meant something to both of us. I think it felt so good because I was able to connect with someone I respected and looked up to, versus the rest of my life which is spent with people I either view as equals or don't really respect at all -_-

That sounds nice Like the feeling that you felt like your sort of equal to your teacher who is supposed to be superior to you is cool

EXACTLY. You know what I mean then :)

I never had a good relationship with my parents (they have some pretty bad issues themselves. Addiction, Obsessive Anxiety, Etc), So being able to relate with an adult I looked up to was a pretty awesome experience. I haven't had it since.

Sorry about your parents and most my teachers just make fun of me so i've only ever looked at them like there he devil

Oh its okay. I am so detached/desensitized that it does not affect me at all.

And you will totally experience it someday. Most likely in college, too. high school teachers are generally not even that influential, in my experience. A lot of them are not as invested in teaching and making an impact as professors. Not to say that ALL teachers are less invested, but in my experience most of them were.

Haha, disagreeing on anime wouldn't make things awkward, the anime community disagrees on about 99% of all things to do with anime anyway. Having a teacher who is into anime would be great though. Ah, I can just imagine some scraggly old physics professor who really loves shoujo or something...

Never anime, at least not openly. Did have a teacher who openly admitted he'd pirate games though.

had two Teach Assistants(TAs) who would discuss anime with me and my friends. One was a TA for acting, and we recently talked about DBZ F movie, and what is currently Gokus strongest form(including GT). The other TA for English would discuss Fairy Tail, DBZ, and Aot.
I also have teachers like my AP Psych teacher, and Band Director, who would have more of a friend to friend status, than a Student to Teacher status.

I teach at two design colleges, and I watch a fair amount of anime. I've had students who love anime and cosplay. I sometimes run into them at FanimeCon. Also, I am also a parent to a college aged student. GASP!
