MS Gundam or Macross's Varitechs who do you think would win, in a all out Battle, against the other?

Hi Fellow Mech Lovers and Anime Watchers,

Today, i need your help!!!

I have had an on going debate w/ friend of mine for years now.
It kinda started off as a friendly, kinda of, a running joke, but now, years later it has evolved into something more, ...or less serious.
Frankly, I would like the community to help solve this debate once and for all.
Let me start by saying I am a huge fan of both series, but
i have watched more of the Gundam Series, than Macross.(there is more Gundam Material)

I believe that the Gundam series of Mech, are better armored and have a stronger arsenal with greater destructive power, an coupled with a NEWTYPE pilot, i think it would spell doom for just about, any Varitech and Pilot from the Macross Universe.

My Opinon, now give me yours.

Choose any Mobile Suit or Gundam and Pilot from any Gundam Series or Universe,
and pit them against any Macross Mech, Varitech and Pilot.
but it has to be one on one.
Like ZZ Gundam VS. the VFX 22 from Macross Plus!!!

Pick your winner, but please, give a reason, why you feel your choice is the better one!!!

and LET THE BATTLE ROYALE BEGIN!!!!

Help me, solve this Debate once and for all!!

Thanks

It would all boil down to the pilot. In both series it wasn't the power of the suit but skill of the pilot that was showcased.

Very true...

but hands down, I say Macross.

Gundams are too novelty based, and the weaponry is primarily oversized melee weapons, and the pilots are 15 year olds...

Macross is not.

Test it yourself. Both franchises appear together in several Super Robot Wars titles.

I am a fan of both. In fact I would rather personally pilot a Veritech.

With that said, just from comparing things "logically" I thinking Gundams would win. #1 there tends to be more of them and more variety and #2 Gundams can take a lot more punishment in most cases and keep fighting. Veritech haven't been as lucky. Now with a couple SDFs thrown into the mix and some barrier systems, we might have a closer battle, but also a lot more destruction.

Still I say Gundam.

The hell? Which Gundam have you been watching? Because in almost every series the protagonist's machine main weapon is some type of beam rifle or cannon.

Note: no mobile suit would defeat a veritech in an atmosphere because of the laws of aerodynamics, so to level the playing field;
The RGZ-91 Re-GZ Refined Gundam Zeta (Char's Counterattack) piloted by Allelujah Haptism (from 00) vs YF-19 (Macross Plus) piloted by Miriya Parina Sterling (Macross).
And Miriya would press any mobile suit pilot to the point of having to resort to some newtype trickery to win. So in the end I'd take Miriya in the YF-19 over any mobile suit that lacked a newtype at pilot.

Basara uses the power of music to disrupt Domon's concentration, preventing him from fully utilizing his fighting spirit.

Turn A Gundam Piloted by anyone who can activate the Moonlight Butterfly at full power. I don't care if its a baby, or a 200Year old comatose man who accidentally hit the button.

Turn A proceeds to Team Kill Every Gundam, Person, Building, and enemy with a radius as large as the distance to Mars. With Nanites. While Standing Still. With a useless pilot.

No Joke, Turn A wins due to Moonlight Butterfly (The nanite ability). And the Ability to warp beams anywhere. Including the cockpit of anything. Oh, and if you shoot the pilot, it can regenerate the pilot. Did I mention its protected by a Unique I-field that can protect it from Ground Zero Nuclear explosions. I don't think anyone can argue against this. Turn A wins nearly any mech argument, unless if you start talking planet sized mechs or larger.

But seriously, Gundam wins due to Advanced Hax Equipment. Mostly from Non UC Universes. Assuming Space.

Amuro Ray in His RX-93-ν2 Hi-ν + Funnels, Strike Freedom with unlimited phase-shift to neutralize any physical projectile + Dragoons, ORB-01 Akatsuki to protect the respective mechs with Dragoons, and 00+Raiser to play decoy. Considering the destructive potential of a positron Cannon, A couple hundred missles would be nothing for these guys.

If you take all of the above Gundams out of the mix, it becomes closer.

If you take the above out and put them on ground, I imagine Varitechs would be on equal ground and winning a good share of fights. Some Gundams are amazingly fast on the ground, but a lot of the more normal Gundams aren't even close to a Varitech in raw speed on land. Keep in mind that a lot of Gundams were never primarily designed for Land combat, most of them had a space first mentality.

But still, Final Answer--Turn A Gundam.
Secondary Answer-- Gundams due to specialized units.
Side Thought: Varitechs win against nearly all UC, After Colony, and Correct Century Series Gundams.

That's one long post but I totally agree with everything. But it could stand to use a better pilot 0.o

Since it would come down to the skill of the pilots - I'd say Gundam as most gundam pilots are more used to killing other humans

Practically every non-Microsoft console, but I recommend the PS3 games, since Blu-Ray Region 1 includes both the U.S and Japan, assuming you are a U.S. player. (If not, there are other options available.) The most recent game, Dai-3-Ji Super Robot Wars Z (sold as Hell and Heaven Chapters, i.e. two separate games), includes both Macross Frontier and Gundam Unicorn, for example, among many others.
