None of my friends really disrespect my love of anime because for one thing I wouldn't stay friends with someone who truly made fun of me for it. The only person who really tries to bother me about it sometimes is my dad, he'll come in my room when I'm watching it and just start speaking gibberish which makes me mad most of the time

Like others have said, they don't have to like it but they better understand that you like it and respect you enough as a friend to behave themselves. I'd have to wonder if they were really friends if they treat you like that.

Older people tend to call it childish, cartoons, or both. Just ignore it.

My main friends group is split between 2 otakus, 2 bronies (albeit one is graduating next year) and 1 is a pure gamer. Me and the other otaku heavily disagree on what is good or not. One brony likes One Piece, much to the distain of the 2 otakus. The other brony has no interest in anime and makes that clear. The pure gamer really doesn't care.

I may not really have much in the way of friends but my co-workers and acquaintences seem fine with it as something that I enjoy and not something that I inflict on them. If I try to get other people into anime that's too much like evangelizing so I don't do it. They seem happy I'm happy tho.

I dont care if my friends dislike anime. The music I listen to probably turns more heads than the anime though. Either way Im not that self conscious about myself.

I make fun of anime and I am an anime fan.

Anime isn't for kids, it's for nerds. In American terms it can range from Silence of the Lambs and the Shining, to Star Trek Fan Fiction and Twilight. It generally has a few hits that hook a normal audience, but for the most part you need to be able to not be afraid to go to a very special place at times to fully enjoy it.

My suposedly good friends always made fun of my likes (anime, music, movies, clothes) That`s why I send them to hell and now I just have one real friend that doesn`t like anime but respects my likes.

I noticed that I can meet people that likes anime through forums like this one and I really appreciate the friends I have online, nevertheles my best friend is from the outside internet world just we don`t share the like for anime.

As someone already wrote "if they donpt respect your likes they`re not really your friends"

Ugh... same. I feel like it would enrich my friend's life since all she likes are Adventure Time & Star vs. The Forces of Evil etc that derive some of their inspiration from anime. She's also a hypocrite cause she's watched every Ghibli movie. I'm like that's anime you know...

Seriously though. She's also the type of person who says it's for kids, but she's one of those people who saw frozen in theaters 10 times. She's a year older than I am. Christ ALMIGHTY.

Let me know if you find a cure for that anti-anime illness, thanks!

That's the wonderful thing about being an adult. Yeah I feel ancient sometimes but at least I've become well practiced at ignoring haters. If I had a "friend" that badgered me about my Anime love all the time they would cease to be my friend.
