I found this show about a week ago, and it is a bit old but awesome, I also found out that it was on TV when I was a kid.

I regret not knowing that, I would of watched the heck out of it. I'm at episode 23, so far I think I'll watch it until the end.
My favorite part about it is the fact that Kenshin never goes back on his word about not killing anymore, and the adventures they have each episode.

Do any of you like Rurouni Kenshin, and if so why?

Please obey all the Crunchyroll forum rules.

I enjoyed Kenshi, you're about to get into the next arc that starts around episode 28 and lasts till episode 63 I believe. It's imo one of the most well-written arcs in shonen.

Unfortunately episodes 64+ are all filler =/

Great show.

Shame the final manga arc was squeezed into an OVA/Movie series later in the year.

Only issue I sort of had with it was the initial part (in the manga and anime) was basically just waiting until Kenshin had a reason to whip out his sword and pull a curbstomp battle on the main villain of the arc.

I will say that I like the dub under the title Rurouni Kenshin over the dub under the title Samurai X (though Samurai X is pretty awesome title). I will add the asterisk that I was used to the dub under the first title as a kid, which may have some effect on why I dislike the second.

EDIT:

64+ are filler, but I still liked quite a few of the arcs in there.

RuroKen spoilers:

That's one of the works I'd point out as essential, and I'm surprised you're only just hearing of it. Enjoy!

Rorouni Kenshin is easily one of the better shounen series from the 90s, like MagnaAnima mentioned you are close to the start of the the major story arc that runs from ep 28-62. "The Kyoto Arc", as it is often called, is my favorite shounen story arc ever.

The major downside to the series is the sheer amount of filler episodes. Almost half the minor arcs from ep 1-27 are filler, and everything after 62 is filler. Even so I highly recommend watching at least to ep 62, then decide for yourself if you want to watch the filler arcs that start at 64.

After you watch episode 62....I urge you to watch the 4 part OVA called Samurai X: Trust & Betrayal. This covers Kenshin's origin story and the meaning behind his cross shaped scar.

EDIT: Oops, the Kyoto Arc ends at 62 not 63.

I strongly recommend the manga over the anime, though.

The anime was enjoyable but it is pretty dated.

Did you know there are also some pretty live action movies made from this series?

If I had to pick one of the two...

...seconded.

Although I'll miss all the voice actors from the series, which would be a downfall.

Although the manga is better, the adaptation of the Kyoto Arc cannot be overlooked. IMO that alone is worth watching the anime for.

Rurouni Kenshin was the first anime I ever watched, and is still one of my favorite anime to this day. The Kyoto Arc from start to finish is in my opinion one of the best arcs in all of anime.

Never really read the manga, but I hear the third arc (the one after the Kyoto arc) is also really good. May have to pick that up at some point.

The anime is old man, watched it back over a decade ago but I love the dubb version. I couldnt get into the japanese female seiyuu for Kenshin .

And the OVA/movie devastated me since I watched it after the anime and I loved Kenshin's character.

I had to read the manga to get a better closure.
