this has been happening ever since I installed the app.
what will happen is frequently when an advertisement is about to play, it will just show a blank black screen that never goes away. I have to kill the app. so I end up starting it over and over until it finally gets through all the ads.

if you want to convince me to become a paying member, this is not the way to go about it

Details:
device = iPhone 5s
iOS version = 8.3
app version = 2.31.3
network = wifi, AT&T u-verse

One of the reviews in the app store said that the problem went away for him if he lets the whole episode play without touching the playback slider. I've been trying that and so far it seems to be working. I don't know... part of me suspects that's not the real issue. Maybe there were some bad ads in the queue and they had to be removed. Would be great to get some kind of response here

I had that problem very frequently, but I was able to decrease the frequency. The solution is not really the app, but your device. You need to speed up your device. Try deleting any unneeded apps. Many people tend to collect many apps and don't bother to remove what they are not using. I removed a whole page of apps from my iPod touch and that really helped. Next, on your browser, close any unneeded windows and if you wish delete the history to. Remembering webpages and history (that can go back months) takes a good bit of RAM. And lastly, hard reset your device daily. This is commonly done by holding the power button and the button below the screen (I don't know what that's called) down for 10 seconds. That will clear the RAM cache and make your device faster. This worked well for my 4th gen Ipod touch. But if it doesn't work, look up some guides specifically for speeding your device up.
