Love to talk about the shows you've been to, bands seen, or how good or bad the show was. Then this is the place to break down the events that transpired.

I saw Gwar a few times, those concerts were amusing

Only local shows for me and that's only been a little over 6 months since I've started but after the first few months I stopped going as often. Seeing Iron Lung 2 nights in a row was cool and just about all of Korea's death metal bands in one night. There are a few other nights that were up there but I don't really feel like writing too much.

I've seen Machine Head twice, In Flames, All that Remains, 5FDP, Hellyeah, 10 Years, Devil You Know, and Butcher Babies live. Might be going to a few more shows later in the year.

I've been to Heavy Montreal twice and the Canadian Summer Slaughter twice as well. I've seen a wide range of bands at those shows! Some of my fave performances during these shows were:
Cattle Decapitation
Finntroll
Cryptopsy
Wintersun
Slipknot (honestly not a huge fan, but man can they put on a show!)
Between the Buried and Me
System of a Down
Fleshgod Apocalypse
The Faceless
Rings of Saturn
Gojira
Baroness
All Shall Perish
Mastodon
Amon Amarth
Machine Head
Cannibal Corpse
Animals as Leaders
Revocation
The Ocean

Festivals are seriously the best!! Too bad the closest metal fest to me is a 10 hour drive, so it always ends up being sooo expensive so I can't afford to go every year.

I've also seen Black Sabbath, Carcass, Gorguts, Vital Remains, Noisem, Within the Ruins, In Flames, Battlecross, Opeth (and a few other opening bands that I feel more meh about) during other smaller tours.

I've seen in concert: AC/DC, Kiss, Tesla, Ozzy, Badlands, Anthrax, Slayer, Testament, Overkill, Nuclear Assault, Exodus, Fates Warning,Dark Angel, Megadeth, Metallica, White Zombie, Rob Zombie , Pantera, Prong, Sepultura, Coal Chamber, Dope, Slipknot, Mudvayne , Alice in Chains, Stabbing Westward, incubus , nine inch nails, Deftones, Korn, System of a Down, Orgy, Rage against the machine, tool, Front 242, Puya, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Smashing Pumpkins, Sevendust, Linkin Park, Foo Fighters MSI, Team Sleep, Santana. Many other bands not considered metal.

Best Stage Presence: Anthrax awesome in concert

Worst Stage Presence: Megadeth. They simply played their music and left, no interaction, no acknowledgement of the crowd, no emotion, not even " a thank you and goodnight" They had that whole FU vibe going on. Holy Wars is one of my all time favorite songs so whatever be as "FU I'm a metal god " as you want to be still love the music.

What the F**k am I doing at this concert Moment: I was dragged to a 2 Live Crew concert as a kid. One of my brothers wanted to go and my mom gave my brother a take your little sister with you if you want to go stipulation to deter him from going yeah like that worked. I roamed around on my own goodtimes.

I've seen live : Metallica, Slayer, Cradle of filth, Biohazard, Tool, System of a down, Behemoth, Nile, Slipknot, Avenged sevenfold, Down, Crowbar, Hatebreed, Killswitch engage, Shadows fall, Chimaira, God forbid, Mushroomhead, FFDP, Avatar, Monster Magnet, Korn, King 810, Caliban, Drowning Pool, Therapy, Ex deo, Kittie, Ill Nino, Svart crown, At the gates, Will Haven, and some others that aren't metal.

Metallica always put on a great show, along with A7X, Korn, Slipknot and Behemoth were amazing.

To be honest, I've been lucky, never really seen a bad live show, apart from Five finger death punch who were supporting Avenged sevenfold. I'm not a FFDP fan, and to top it off, I thought they were really shit live.

Astrometal, I've also seen FFDP, I'm not really a fan either but am generally open to live shows... but I have to agree that their live performance was more than disappointing

LittleMissee,Yeah, when I see bands live that I'm not a fan of, I'm always hoping that their live performance will change my mind. Unfortunately that didn't happen with FFDP. Thankfully, a good few bands have made me a fan at concerts, Behemoth being one of them, great live band.

I've never been to a festival, which is by far the best way to see a lot of great bands in bulk, but I've been to many concerts. I haven't actually seen many metal bands live, but here's a list of concerts I remember hah: Emperor, Mayhem, Suffocation, Cannibal Corpse, Devin Townsend, Torche, Opeth, Porcupine Tree, Behemoth, Between the Buried & Me, Deafheaven, Queens of the Stone Age (twice), Deftones, Team Sleep, Smashing Pumpkins, Autolux, Nine Inch Nails (not a big fan, but AMAZING performance), Deerhoof, Guided By Voices, Baths, The Books, Glassjaw (twice; once in Florida & the second time I opened for them with my previous band), The Misfits, The Refused, Sufjan Stevens, uhhh... I know I'm missing some big ones. I'm omitting concerts I've been to where I've had absolutely zero interest in the bands but went anyway. Also, as you can see, I've been to a lot of concerts of "indie"/alternative rock bands because it's much easier to find people interested in seeing those bands than, say, Goatwhore or something. Plus, a lot of international metal bands who go on fairly limited United States tours skip over west Michigan so I have to drive to Chicago, which adds like.. at least $100 to the total cost. My favorite concert was probably Devin Townsend, because I got to go up on stage & " dance" around the stage while they played a 90-second or so instrumental. And a friend took some amazing photos of Devin & I after the concert. My least favorite concert/s would be a tie between Fear Factory & Porcupine Tree. I only mildly like some early Fear Factory, & their performance sounded sooo weak. An extremely underwhelming experience. And Porcupine Tree, while I do like some of their albums quite a bit, were just the absolute most boring band I have ever seen. At the beginning of the concert we were up at the very front, just feet away from the elevated stage, and by the fourth song or so we moved to the very back where the bar was & just sat there drinking beer. Suffocation is another highlight though. They just absolutely destroyed it. Plus the band were just walking around after their set & I got to talk to each member individually for a few minutes, got them to each draw stick figures of themselves on a sheet of paper (which is hanging above me right now) & bummed a cigarette from Terrance Hobbs. I pinned the butt of the cigarette under Terrance's drawing. Nasty, I know, but I would gladly sacrifice cleanliness to add further glory to the death metal shrine that I pray to every night before bed.

@Deaggy-Stardust, I'd love to see Devin Townsend live, the guy really is a musical genius, the mad scientist of metal.

I second that! Devin Townsend would be an amazing performance to see live. Also, Deaggy-stardust, I'm curious about how the Deftones performed when you saw them? I saw them at an outdoor festival a couple years ago, and the vocals were just awful. I had really been looking forward to their performance, but I had to make myself walk away after 3 songs, lest I no longer even enjoy their albums by sheer awful memory

Of the bands I listed earlier, I think Finntroll, Vital Remains and Cattle Decapitation were the ones that I enjoyed the most.

Finntroll
has awesome stage presence and sound exactly as they do on their albums. They had technical issues very briefly, and their performance didn't even falter - complete trust in their techies. I had a lot of respect for that (especially after watching an earlier guitarist (can't remember the band) walk off stage because of issues).

Vital Remains, I saw in some dingy little bar that didn't even have a stage, with a crowd of maybe 40-50 people. Brian hauled me up onto a speaker to rock out with him and after the show, all the members mingled with the crowd and shared some drinks and smokes with us. Tony Lazaro happened to mentionto me which hotel they were staying at, and I told them I knew the guy working nights there, and was super surprised when my buddy called me the next morning, saying they left a DVD with him for me when they left the next morning!

Cattle Decapitation
was just phenomenal live. Not going to lie, I had been a bit curious and unsure as to how well their vocals would be live, but I wasn't disappointed in the least! The rocked the joint! I got to chat with them at their merch table for a good 30 minutes, and am happy to say, they were super nice, interesting and intelligent guys.

The Deftones performed amazingly when I saw them. But they hold a notorious reputation of being hit-or-miss. I saw them in May of 2010, while on tour for "Diamond Eyes". I went with five other people, two who had previously went to a Deftones concert in 2008 and said Chino was absolutely terrible. But I went to a Team Sleep show in 2005, which was intense & gorgeous, so I had also seen Chino perform beforehand. So from what I gather, the Deftones/Chino sucked ass live between 2006-2009. Did you see them within that time span?
