I think it's a trust/comfort thing. I'm a hugger, but only if you are very close to me and/or I have strong trust and conviction towards you.

Get more basic..why the handshake?

Greeting in peace with no weapon in hand.
Also socially less weird than sniffing each other, like other animals do.

Granted, the peaceful greeting presumes one is shaking with their weapon hand, and not drawing a weapon with the free one, but since it tends to follow welcoming someone with open arms (indicating neither hand holds a weapon), the peaceful intent is implied.

It's a major reason why you (mostly) only see villains stabbing someone during a handshake. Serious treachery afoot.

people get excited to see people because they miss them, and they express how much happy they are by hugging. personally I don't like to be hugged by people, especially guys... I hug people I like and miss, want to have a safe trip back, this includes a very small amount of friends such as 3 people.... and my mom. I like the feeling of being hugged but not by people I am not close with.

I have a solution, try going out and hugging someone and finding out like a normal person instead of asking the most dumbest questions on a forum..Seriously lay off the alcohol your liver will thank you.

I don't think everyone actually does that so that is just a cultural thing. It's simply a way of greeting that shows trust and companionship because you're willing to take the other person's hand.

You are correct .How perfectly fallible of me.And to think I use to set up the inductions and even add it to the IV after the placenta was delivered.

One of the human behaviors I understand the least is hugging.. Why do people like to be hugged without any sexuality involved. Personally, hugging is very awkward and uncomfortable.
jeez.. fuckings hugs man, how do they work

Well, they involve not being immaturely self-centered, not possessing a objectified view of other human beings around yourself for your own advantage, and having some instinctive compassion for others, without a terror of actually obligating yourself to make icky contact with human beings you instinctively want to distance yourself from.
Like Yam says, it's a trust thing--If you never had any, you'll never figure it out. But it's nice you're at least interested in how normal people do it.

Hugging relatives for me is fine, however when it comes to doing it with other friends and especially cute and hot girls it gets really awkward. I mostly have my random boners popping up in that exact moment so I don't get too close when I hug them (maybe a lil' close to get a feel of them pillows ) Jk, but jokes aside. I really hate hugging other girls too. It just gets too awkward.
