I always liked European double edged swords like Narsil from The Lord of the Rings. The symmetry really appeals to me so I never really liked curved blades (even though they are better for cutting/slashing).

I've always been a fan of broadswords. They're sturdy, light enough, and don't require a lot of expertise or experience to utilize them well.

I will say on sheer awesomeness, I probably prefer a katana, but despite how sharp it is, less utility and higher skill floor prohibits it from favorite.

sharpness is not every thing when it comes to bladed weapons

that being said my favorite sword is the ulfberht. a mystical Viking sword that's believed to be endowed with magical powers

Yes you are right! Sharpness has nothing against armor, *Heavy Armor*

And dullness hurts worse

I don't know. I've switched between many in my life and, much like most of the things I've done that with, I've ended up not keeping track with what's my favourite one.

I personally use a longsword but I only use that because it's what I'm trained in. I also like the rapier because it's probably the best sword for duelling - having only been replaced due to fashion. However, rapiers are also very good for my very stab heavy style of sword fighting so I may be biased. Basket hilted broadsword is more fun to use though - when fighting somebody as aggressive as you are, going back and forth during a fight is exhausting but some of the greatest fun you'll have in a sword fight.

Katanas are too short for my liking - due to my liking of stabbing a long reach is necessary.

Yep, I started with a heavy 3lb. 8 oz curved saber. Then I went to 2 lb double edged swords. But....I got this crazy cheap sword for about $200 bucks about three years ago, and it is my favorite. It's light, fairly strong (reseated once) and just feels good. I have a heavier 3lb 10 oz double edged Jian, but I'm getting old and slow. I'm afraid the heavier blades wear me out much faster these days, so I go for lighter and springier.

Yea, a lot of swords these days fall apart after swinging them once or twice, I don't understand how swords get weaker the further you go into the future. OH wait it's because they are made cheaply

Rapiers. They look cool, I dunno. I don't know a whole lot about weaponry.

I'd probably favor a Bastard Sword, longer than a shortsword but shorter than a longsword

More of a dagger...but a kris.

Especially if you buy into that they used to smith them with neurotoxins, ensuring just a small cut could kill.

Also, a gladius.

I prefer smaller, easier to wield, blades.

Because lightsabers just aren't messy enough.
