okay my fellow Crunchyroll members lets talk about Bullying, now everyone is aware of what it is and what the consequences can possibly be, but do you realize how bad it is, do you think saying things like " it was just joke" or " i didn't know or realize" is acceptable in anyway. for me i think it is unacceptable and that bullies should not get away with it. bullying is no accident

I agree that there is no excuse for it, and that it should be stopped since bullying can actually seriously affect someone mentally as well as physically.

That being said, bullies are usually (but not always) pretty insecure themselves, and pick on others as a way to feel better. Again, that's not at all excuse for their behavior.

Of course, some people are just assholes and there is no changing that. It could be the way they were brought up as a kid, or something else.

I was bullied myself as a young teen. It can be pretty horrible.

Tl;dr -- Yeah, bullies suck.

People say those things to avoid responsibility because they don't want to be seen as the bad guy. You should be more concerned about how your actions effect those around you instead of how you can save face.

Sure, bullying is bad but people really do need to toughen up a bit and learn how to cope with things like that. People these days seem less and less capable of handling difficult situations and tend to go off the deep end when shit happens. I think it is partly because we try to protect people a bit too much. So bullying is bad but I think a little bit here and there can help make a person better later on.

I never understood how could people get bullied but I do know girls can be cruel and merciless. I've seen it and it's not pretty.

Bullying is never a laughing matter, regardless if the bully believes it's only a "joke or "teasing". Those words are totally different in definition and context than from the act of bullying. Sadly everyone has to endure these afflictions, and the only way to solve is either by the attempt of negotiation between the victim and bully, or retaliate in an aggressive manner to induce caution and sometimes if successful, fear into the bully. The important thing to remember is to never let the bullying experiences hold you back and change who you are. Even if it has already, it's never too late to make a change for your better well being. In some aspects, bullying can prepare you for future problems and hopefully those experiences will help advise rational choices and confronting those bullies.

I don't think its anything that should try to be justified either. I go to a small Catholic school with only about 40 people per grade and so everyone knows each other pretty well. But even though its like this people are still mean to each other. In the last 2 1/2 years we have had about 5 people leave because of these reasons, the majority of them had been at the same school since they were 3. One person who recently left was followed by some of my classmates and had slurs shouted at them. I don't think anything like that is something that needs to be done and has no reason what so ever and frankly it makes me angry to know that people get away with these things. Bullies need to be taken more seriously in schools and given a harsh punishment because it is never okay to demean someone like they do

depends on what you count as bullying.

And how well the punishment fits the crime... You can't send a kid to jail for calling another kid names... but you can't ignore it either. Bullying needs to be punished, but reasonably.

only if you have no choice , if you have other choices and you could walk away and yet you still resort to violence than you are no better than the bully

Some of the ones who claim they were bullied are among the worst bullies themselves. People who were molested also sometimes become molesters. Like someone else said, don't let it change you, don't become a monster yourself. I think however if you know someone is being bullied you have a duty to speak up for their behalf.

I never said you are the one who starts the violence, I simply said "if you are pushed push back" it is a metaphor.

Bullying, depending on the degree, should be punishable. I have Aspergers Syndrome (Autism Spectrum Disorder now). In Elementary-High School it was hell. My stuff got stolen, broken or hidden. I got jumped after class for being a "Filthy Democratic Atheist. (or Gay... everyone thinks I am gay -.-*)." I had my "dear" teacher Mrs. Schultz tell me and my parents that I belong in a Juvinile detention center to keep the normal kids away from filth like me. After a childhood of this I bought some rat poison, mixed it with hard liquor to mask the taste, then said bottoms up. Needless to say... It failed.
To this day I still suffer anxiety and social issues from how I was treated... But I can say that unlike what Amaya said... I am not a monster... I am just indifferent now. You can say anything, do anything to me and I really don't care. I kind of like it though. I don't think I have cried in over 3 years now. I even rewatched Clannad and Clannad After Story... as well as Code Geass... I didn't feel a pang of sadness. I never liked crying. It's kinda nice to never cry now.

Edit: I have also lost a dear friend to bullying. He succeeded where I failed.
