I am looking to make lists of all the anime I want to watch, dont want to watch, love, hate, e.t.c.
And I heard Anime Planet was a good site, but is it safe, legal, free and will it do what I want it to do?
Please help, and Thanks

Safe (as your password strength), legal, free, all those. Sort of non-intuitive when you are just beginning to use the site to keep track if you have watched a lot and don't remember it all. I wound up importing my hummingbird.me list. "Built in" pre-defined lists for anime:

Watched
Watching
Want to watch
Stalled
Dropped
Won't watch

Anything else would have to be done as a custom list, which is separate from the above. I don't use the custom lists myself, I tried it and it seems to work, but I didn't like the maintenance interface and how those lists are not integrated with the main function lists. On the other hand, you can make any kind of list you want to that way which is something I haven't found a way to do on Hummingbird.

One of the things about AP that is both good and bad at the same time, is they don't allow you to make a mistake tracking current season by marking episodes before they are available. It's good, because it keeps you sane when you are watching 40 shows. But it can be bad sometimes because they aren't always johnny on the spot having current episodes ready in all cases, and you have to wait occasionally for them to update. (The site is apparently maintained by volunteers).

Also, you can't put shows in the "watching" list until the first episode has aired. That's the "feature" I like least on the site. I want to prep earlier than that every season.

But I really like that once you do have your watching list set, that it has indicators for shows which have aired that you haven't marked yet, and the interface makes it easy to update once you have watched it.

A lot of people seem to use myanimelist.net, (I don't) and or animenewsnetwork.com, so you may wish to check those out, too.

Anime Planet is legal, and I believe it is safe and free. I don't use it so I'm not sure how much of what you want to do it does. It does have a feature that is somewhat unique in that they are legitimately partnered with several video streaming sources (including Crunchyroll) and if you watch through their site it updates your list automatically.

I use animenewsnetwork, many use myanimelist, others use hummingbird.me for similar purposes.

I use myanimelist.net .

It has Watching, Completed, On Hold, Dropped, and Plan to watch lists.

I just started and I really like it (it also lets you be flexible on adding episodes unlike what asharka said about animeplanet).
