Good or bad animation lies in yourself. How did it make you feel? Did you see color or darkness? Or did you see nothing? If you felt emotion then it was good in my opinion.

animation refers to the fluidity oft he movement of the characters.
a good animation implies that the movement is fluid and "natural"

a bad animation implies that the movement is noticeably unnatural
example: characters floating in the sidewalk (and yes, i saw this happen once, though it only laster ~1s or so)
or if there's "melting"
example from Shirobako (no, the animation from the series itself is fine. this is an anime about making anime, and in this particular scene, it shows an example of bad animation - the 'melting')

Could you please give me another example of melting?
I am not allowed to see fanservice scenes.

i don't think there was a case of animation so bad the character melted as was the case in Shirobako.
the melting in the example given is an extreme case of bad animation.

basically, melting is caused by inconsistencies in the frames drawn
so that the drawing (the character, the background, etc) becomes disfigured and "melts"

It depends. Even some well animated things have some not so well animated episodes.

But I love it when the characters lips move with their words, and their eyes dilate or sparkle differently. And every part of a character's body moves more realistically rather than... Robotically, I guess? I'm not sure how to describe it. But just kudos to all animators for doing such a good job.

i think there was another example of melting in Shirobako, when one of the characters imagine what would happen if the cat she was going to draw "melted".

^ Bad Animation

You can see character models going off-model and faces just looking odd at times. The character animation feels very stilted because you can obviously see that the characters are just moving from Pose A to Pose B with minimal animation connecting the poses (see 2:10 to 2:25 for what I mean). Much of what they are passing off as animation is also just single frames that are either panned over or shaken to make it feel like movement

^Good Animation

The character movements are far more fluid and characters stay on model. I'm particularly fond of 2:08 to 2:15

Using your eyes would be a good start. If it looks anything like Denpa kyoushi then it's gonna have a bad time.
