Shesh everyone who seems to ask for help or need some operation turns out be be an asshole, or in this episode's case cunts, put that gun away you dipshit. Got off too lightly with just garbing her mouth. Good thing (& luckily) YBJ is so intensively caring in saving lives. I wished I still had my history blood, some aspects of the shows could be a lot engaging on my part.

Marlon's (clown) lips though...gawd(so lame)...and he has blue eyes...who designed this character...

Yeah poor Hazama got screwed every which way this time and he was trying not to go back there but his conscience wouldn't let him abandon the guy. Meanwhile, almost nobody he is dealing with has anywhere near the same sort level of decency. Ugh.

But this is just a teaser, right? The preview said next week would be Vietnam Pt.

Vietnam will be a big part of Black Jack if they stay true to Manga and they seemed to be. Lots of not great people in this episode but the 60s were a trying time for some nations war and protest the labor movement in Japan was all out of wack

Episode 4

Damn this episode was violent and quite realistic imo.

We get war themes and death is quite real on the battlefield. I like how Hazama is still trying to bring back a near dead soldier to life before being captured himself...

I wonder what will happen to him from here?

Episode 4

Oh, now this episode was interesting!

The theme and setting of war was a completely turnaround from what we usually get when it comes to this series and I believe this episode pulled it off well. Seeing people getting killed and how the war is affecting these people and reporters was a very good way to show off how serious the war is. Also, Hazama's experience brings out that realization of war as well. Hazama going out to save that soldier was a nice touch on how to bring back the surgery theme this series is so well known for. I think Hazama and the crew have been taken as prisoners of war and I wonder how they will handle themselves?! I am looking forward to the next episode!

Damn all of the Friday shows I saw were laced with intensity and YBJ fell in the same line (with a little side of campy, but that's always welcomed), War Zone is no joke but neither is Jack. I am beginning to wonder how brutal the series could get on his psyche, since this a prequel, YBJ should be alright, but he is going to lose a lot of things/parts along the way...

As expected of a Black Jack franchise this series is taking on major, series issues without flinching. Even though it's on the melodramatic side the fact that it cuts straight to the core of things makes it one of the better series on right now IMHO.

I've read the all of the manga and seen the other anime adaptations, and I really like the direction and tone the anime has to it so far. It seems to balance seriousness while adding some humor in like the original manga, which is awesome. Plus the Tezuka star system is still in use, which is a really nice homage to the original.

I'm interested in the introduction of Kiriko in the next episode since his experiences with war played a huge part in building the character we see in the manga.

Episode 5

Mm, part 2 of the trilogy.

Kinda felt bad for Phan and the others for getting treated like that as prisoners of war. Then again, that's reality given their positions and viewed as spies by the soldiers. I think Hazama found himself a rival this episode and they seem to have a decent relationship. Not bad. Next part looks brutal though based on the PV!

Episode 5

Man, this episode flew by fast!

Being prisoners of war, Phan and the others had it pretty rough.. The new character introduced seemed like a prick at first, but it seems like him and Hazama will do good work together, so that would be enjoyable to see. The surgery part was nice as well and I am glad the episode combined both aspects of war and surgery in one go. Oh, for some reason, Phan's character design looks familiar...where have I seen someone similar? Hmm.. Next week it looks like shit will go down, so I am looking forward to that!

If you're not familiar with the story of Napalm Girl, you should check it out. Whatever your political view, it's a terribly moving story. She is still alive, and was actually in the news recently. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/kim-phuc-laser-treatment_562d3c31e4b0aac0b8fd39f6
