I'm not a pacifist by nature, I believe that War should only be used to defend, not your interests but people. Why I believe this you ask?

In my opinion, most wars are fought to take and to control, in my eyes this is wrong. War should be a last resort, you should not use it unless you have no other choice, take for instance you see someone elderly getting beat up across the street by a group of thugs. What do you do? You help him, otherwise he will get hurt or die.

Using that context it can be applied to my opinion on how to use War, it should be used only when you have to.

After taking the poll, add your opinion on war, try to be respectful of others opinions.

If you are debating another's opinion, be sure to add proof behind your debate.

Being a pacifict, I believe any form of violence is wrong.
Really, war is meaningless. Many human rights acts are violated leading to mass death of civilians and the creation in refugees, orphans, widows and not to mention the countless deaths of troops and the physical or psychological effect it has on them.
And why is this caused? Mainly for greed; to obtain oil, money, land or power.

I voted it's wrong.

But it's necessary for a number of reasons; 1stly it creates jobs and technology for people, 2ndly for defense.

I'm inclined to agree with you on that one.

My opinion (and everyone else's really...) doesn't really matter for this since history has always had war throughout. That's not going to change either.

Personally though, I like war. I love everything about it. The good, and especially the bad.

Yes, I am.
War doesn't always solve things. It does bring cool weaponry, it generates a fair amount of jobs, but in the end, oftentimes, the resolve is not what anybody wanted or expected, and one side always loses. I'm not going to sit back and say that war is uneventful or not interesting, it is, but it's violent, costs millions of lives; civilian and military alike -- and if not handled properly it can last for a very, very, very long time. Consider the fact that Israel and Palestine are still going at it after all these years.

War is a necessary tool in trying to achieve peace in a world where some people believe they have the right to do as they please.

I am but sadly the world can’t live without conflict. Conflicting beliefs, land and limited resources are the main causes.

War is sometimes necessary. If you think war doesn't solve anything why not ask the NAZIS if that is true. Better yet; ask the European Jews who survived the war or the people of Israel if WWII was unnecessary? If the peace process is flawed or unfair that is what creates more war; look at the Versailles Peace Treaty after WWI. THAT led to WWII more than anything else. (Well that and the Allied armies not physically marching into Germany forcibly disarmed it rather than letting the German Army go back and claim they won the war, but lost the peace.) I am NOT arguing that war is a good thing intrinsically or a preferred state of being. But the Romans had a good phrase: Si vis pacem, para bellum (if you want peace than prepare for war). It means the best defense is a strong offense. NOBODY in the military I ever meet wanted war. People joined the military for many reasons, but part of it was to defend the country and not attack another country. Some join for the benefits since you can't ask a person to risk their lives and not give something back. Finally since my dad was spit on in the San Francisco airport while in uniform by pacifists and other peace loving individuals, who also seemingly loved destroying/damaging private property, just remember that the people in the military don't get to decide who they will fight or how; that is done by the politicians. I apologize if I went OCD/pedantic.

It's exhausting to just think about. All through history it's constantly back and forth, this guy won land, that guy lost land. and in the mean time, thousands of peoples lives have been devastated by the general pointlessness. What I mean is that humans are pointlessly wasting their energy to fight rather than working as a team to build a better future. Have you ever noticed that humans can only band together to do great acts of evil but only get in small groups to do good? such as war versus environmentalists?

As long as people hate, it's inevitable.

One word: YES.

I find war pathetic, especially since most wars are started or maintained for selfish or stupid reasons. I understand that there were wars that were carried out to stop horrific things happening (WW2, for example) but I really wish it didn't have to come to that. Too many innocent people die, just because some people can't say "oh, okay your opinion/religion is different to mine, that's cool."

If everyone respected one another, the world would be a much more peaceful place.
