So, I've been cleaning my room lately and found a stash of Shojo Beat Magazines. I was wondering if there was anyone out there who would like to buy them from me.

I had a subscription for several years but I am missing a few. The first few have extremely damaged covers, but the content is still good.

If anyone is interested, I'll put them up on ebay or Amazon. Just wanted to know if anyone would actually want to buy them.

--I'll consider an offer--

Also, i'd like to reminisce in the old days of girly manga. So comment away at what you particularly liked about SB

it's probably a good idea to offer a screenshot of the product, so that those interested can take a closer look
also, the edition, month of publication, etc. at the very least the cover of the magazine.
btw didn't shoujo beat get discontinued a while back..?

anyways, good luck w/ this. it might be easier if you tried selling to someone in your class (assuming you're in school)
just to avoid shipping costs, which are pretty expensive.

Yup, the final issue was the July 2009 issue.

Yea it's been discontinued. And I was just wondering if anyone was even interested before putting it up for sell. But I'll take a few pictures.

SB was nice while it lasted. I kinda feel bad I didn't subscribe while they were around. The one-shots were nice. I see people ship them free (they use media mail usually) in the US.

Does anyone know why they discontinued it? It used to be so awesome looking at the magazine section and seeing Shojo Beat magazines.

not enough demand, sadly.
it costs money to keep publishing them, pay staff etc, but not enough people interested to buy those magazines.

I used to love reading them not just for the manga but they had cute products and where you can purchase them. Alot of Japanese fashion too. Oh well I guess... I think they changed their website too

The readerbase for the magazine was like 40,000+ for Viz who likes to throw away gold bars when they lose their shine a little (I know not literally) it wasn't a lot compared to the numbers for many manga it was pretty darn good. I think more shojo beat simulpubs would do decently but Viz isn't even willing to take a chance on adding Haikyu to shonen jump magazine digitally. There is one shojo beat serial currently Boys Over Flowers season 2 and it's free although the first few chapters now have to be bought as a graphic novel. Sorry if that sounded harsh but there were some valid points in there. Viz seems to be waaaay to cautious at this point in terms of serialized manga. I guess that's how they've been around so long though. Make of this what you will.
