I honestly thought this was about soda. I came in here with the intention of saying that it makes me burp a lot.

It depends on the pop artist, but I don't mind it. The most popular artist I like is Beyonce. She's got some good beats, I dunno man.

Honestly, the hipster thing has died down, but I still experience incidents where people who are my age or younger try to say they wish their generation's music didn't suck, and that they listen to [said older band like the beatles or pink floyd] in an attempt to be edgy. Or maybe they genuinely like them? Either way, they sound SO pretentious saying it, and that's pretty hilarious.

most people when they say their generation music didn't suck, are mainly complaining of most of the main stream things. I believe there are some good artist out there in this generation. I do enjoy things like pink floyd, beatles,Chicago,Red hot chili pepper,Twisted Sister,Nirvana etc. I also enjoy things like Eminem,Bruno Mars, etc.

I like all sorts of music. Anywhere from Jazz to k-pop. I do like pop music but not for the meaning of the songs but because they are fun to dance to sometimes.

Why listen to pop when you can listen to this.

I actually think that is pop

I like to listen to pop because it's just simple music plus I don't actually love it, its okay, just put it on repeat and do other things, kind of like most edm.

I think people that dislike pop music are being hipsters, too mainstream. Or they have refined taste in per se.

fav genres: rock(prog, hard, emo, etc.) and classical (folk, neoclassical, romantic period, baroque period, etc.)

Jpop is one that I truly enjoy also because it's like simple, but more fuller and complex than American pop.

Really I think the most important part about music is the feelings it gives you, it's all about the feels.

Depends on the era since pop comes in all flavors..I mean, who doesn't like The Beatles?

A lot of people don't like The Beatles, their music is tedious to listen to, it's boring. I don't like how because The Beatles are treated like something sent from heaven their music is regarded highly. I can't willingly listen to a minute of any of their songs.

I don't like western pop because it's all shallow, meaningless and uncreative. The songs all sound similar with a nice a beat and a few repeated words thrown in which is cool to listen to at parties and when you're with friends because it's something light-hearted and not deep with lots of emotion but when I'm by myself? HELL NO!

However pop from other countries like Korea, Japan, Nigeria etc. all these places where the culture is different continue to have pop music that can be viewed at in a more serious way and in a light-hearted way. The reign of America in the music industry is long over, I just wish radio stations over here would realize that and start bringing in some music that's increasingly gaining popularity from other countries LIKE KOREA!

I don't listen to any new pop music, because it just doesn't sound good to me. Unfortunately, I'm not able to explain that... I enjoy pop from the 60s to the 90s, though.

Pop is my favourite genre. I love Celine Dion's music But everywhere I go, whether it be online or real life, nobody seems to be as enthusiastic about pop music.

I don't know.
I'm open to all kinds of music and can't just suddenly explain why someone likes or dislikes something.
All songs are made for someone but not for everyone.

I've been spoiled by Classical since a very young age. Most pop music just doesn't "strike me". Repetition is a hallmark of all music, but most pop music just doesn't have interesting development to me personally.

And, I mean, it just feels like an entirely different level of artistry. I don't want to be one of those guys who says that classical is just better than everything (because it's not - it's just personal taste). But when I listen to one of Chopin's Ballades, or Bach's Chaconne, or Faure's Barcarolle 1, or Ravel's Sonatine, and then I hear an ordinary pop song.... it just doesn't "move me".

I've grown spoiled by having the actual music move me rather than the lyrics, and so most pop songs just have unsatisfactory melodic movement and development by comparison.

That's not to say that I dislike pop though - it's just not something you'll ever hear me listen to or enjoy.

My whole life I introduced all types of song to my Dad yet he never liked any kind Pop songs, when I was in 6th grade- my friends weren't into them and I've even met people who would actually try to shut me down for playing them. For each of them I ask why? they could never give me a reasonable answer.

So here I am- can you tell me why? OR if you do like Pop songs why do you think people don't like them?

If you never heard a what a typical Pop song sounds like these are some examples.

It's not that I don't like pop, I just have my own preference in music. The song has to have meaning to it, it has to send a message that I can understand and relate to. Otherwise there is a big chance I won't listen to it.

It's been studied that variation in american music has been declining with every decade. I'm not just talking thematically either, I'm talking about the music itself both within a single piece and across pieces. There is also rampant compression and normalization to make things sound "better" on crappy speakers... and when people actually do get good speakers they have a tendency to blast it so high that the audio clips anyway.

Lately I have found myself turning toward more indie and foreign music because of the higher quality and variation. Metal, I listen to alot of metal as there is surprisingly a huge amount of variation and adaptability within the genre... I'm listening to some Pirate Metal right now lol

As far as pop goes I listen mainly to the foreign stuff and the best of the last few decades. (fwi Annie is never okay)

Is experimental pop an oxymoron? I do like artsy unconventional pop stuff.

Is Bjork pop?
