- Snuff film
- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snuff_film

A snuff film is defined by the American Heritage Dictionary as "A movie in a purported genre of movies in which an actor is actually murdered or commits suicide." It may include a motion picture genre that depicts the actual murder of a person or people, without the aid of special effects, for the express purpose of financial exploitation, but that detail is extraneous, so long as it is "circulated amongst a jaded few for the purpose of entertainment". Some filmed records of executions and murders exist but have not been released for commercial purposes.

The first recorded use of the term "snuff film" is in a 1971 book by Ed Sanders, The Family: The Story of Charles Manson's Dune Buggy Attack Battalion. He alleges that The Manson Family was involved in making such a film in California to record their murders.

However, "snuff films" seem to be urban legends and most likely don't exist:

Origins: All the fretting about it aside, not so much as one snuff film has been found. Time and again, what is originally decried in the press as a film of a murder turns out, upon further investigation, to be a fake. Police on three continents routinely investigate films brought to them, and so far this has always been their verdict. No snuff films. Some clever fakes, yes. But no real product.

(Al Goldstein, publisher of Screw magazine, has a standing offer of $1 million for anyone who can come up with a commercially sold snuff film. That offer has been in place for years. No one has yet laid claim to it.)

Theres no such thing as a snuff film in cinema, but if you wanna watch someone die on camera then theres plenty of those, but I recommend staying away from watching things like that, its not good for your well being.

They die for real? Why the fuck would I watch that?
I don't even like when people "apparently" die in the movies.

There is no respect for the dead.

I would never watch a snuff film.
I can't even deal with fictional deaths let alone real life ones.

Wow, I think you're the youngest crunchy user.

I dislike what's called 'snuff' films, I can't handle them. Suicide is better as there's less scary foreboding music and sounds that make you jump.

I agree, snuff films are disturbing, but a lot of them are fake anyway.

And I've seen crunchy users who are younger than me.

Wait.. what do you mean "a lot of them are fake," they're all fake, we're talking about death scenes on TV and in movies, right?!

Oh my sweet summer child...

In a snuff film, the victim actually gets murdered, no special effects, just plain horrible murder.
