I'm not the kind of guy who likes to hate on others for their love of ANYTHING animated. I don't think anyone who watches My Little Pony- Friendship is Magic is weird either. I actually watched the first few episodes, and since I love animation, I probably would love watching this show. Hell, I think Word Girl is one of the funniest shows I've seen since The Weekenders.

Anyways, my first Encounter with a Brony, was actually the same day I learned what a brony was. When I was on Deviantart, I was going through some artwork, and saw someone had made a really vile post, on this guy's drawing. I mean it was sick what this guy had written. So out of curiosity I visited his DA page. I was expecting to see pictures of dead animals, and mutilated children, but instead I saw nothing but My Little Pony- Friendship is Magic drawings.

Not mutilated, zombie ponies, but cute little ponies. It blew me away! His DA page was also mostly pink (nothing wrong with that), but it made me think this guy needed to pay a little more attention to the show's message.

Now to be clear, I know the average Brony/Pegasister (yes I looked it up) isn't like this.
So has anyone else had an encounter like this?

I haven't seen a show of it. Well, I'd seen twenty second commercial of it depicting toys but not actual show. And that was ages ago.

Pretty harmless, if you ask me.

Moving on.

For the lazy...

- Brony/Pegasister
- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Little_Pony:_Friendship_Is_Magic_fandom#Brony

Older fans of the show use the word "brony", a portmanteau of the words "bro" and "pony". Though this generally refers to male fans, the term is often applied to fans of any gender outside the target demographic. Another term, "Pegasister", has been used to refer to older female fans of the show.

Two informal surveys of 2,300 and 9,000 participants respectively revealed that the average age of adult fans is around 21, that approximately 86% were male, and that 63% were currently pursuing a college degree or higher qualification. A subsequent 2012 survey with over 20,000 respondents showed similar numbers, and highlighted that the majority of fans were in the 15-30 age range, were heterosexual, and has, were presently, or were pursuing college degrees.

Further, using the Jungian personality test, the survey revealed that the largest fraction of respondents (approximately 27%) fell into the "INTJ" classification, which normally only occurs in 1-3% of the population, according to the surveyors. Many in the fandom who had difficulty in meeting others or being treated fairly by others found the fandom as a way to meet people with similar interests and become more social.

Some bronies are enlisted personnel in various United States Armed Forces, who have included the various "cutie marks" symbols from the show as insignia on their uniforms or equipment, despite not being appropriate practice for most branches, or worn only during training operations

One of my friends is a brony and i have to say at first i lost some respect for him but then i realised that was kind of stupid. He just watches the show and has a few badges of it, is that really such a crime?! Saying that though there are some proper freaks that like MLP...i do my best to avoid them.

Never met one or have a brony friend, but you'll find alot at MLP Con or Anime Expos.
I have nothing againts them, unless they take it to the wrong direction.
Watch this MLP anime opening fan animation, I found, pretty cool.

I've seen every episode but haven't started season 5 yet, so I'm somewhat of a brony since I love the show I guess. Though I find the term meaningless.

Also, I have an abnormal level of disinterest about other peoples fancies. There is sincerely nothing anyone could tell me to which I would recoil.

I think it is strange and creepy that grown men are fantasizing and obsessing over a show for little girls.

But, as long as it isn't harming anyone, they can go do what they want.

I'm guessing some people think this way about people who like anime, too, so I'm hardly in a position to speak.

My first time was when I was looking for shows for my little sister to watch, then we ran across My Little Pony on the Hub. It's not a bad show but too much of it will ruin you lol

It's not a bad show. I kinda lost interest after the second season tho. Discord is one of the greatest villains ever. (Being voiced by John de Lancie doesn't hurt). And Pinkie Pie is like a cross between Bubbles and Droopy. But yeah, almost any show that lasts longer than two or three seasons loses my interest. (Yes, including anime).
