I particularly love ufotable's (recent-ish) art style with Fate/Zero, Garden of Sinners and Fate/Stay Night. I really like the fine lines, the soft color gradients, the highly saturated colors and the gorgeous lighting effects.

I also really like Huke's character designs (Steins;Gate, Black Rock Shooter, etc), especially how he draws eyes. I also really like the eyes and facial expressions in most Madhouse character designs.

70's and 80's anime had some of the best animation.

As for modern ones... Nothing really stands out. Kaguya-hime no Monogatari and The Woman Called Fujiko Mine had pretty unique art styles.

And no one has mentioned White Fox's work on Katanagatari.

Typical.

I really love the old Amano stuff a lot, and older Shirow stuff like Orion and Appleseed. Those styles really feel unique

Madhouse' Satoshi Kon's semi realistic style always grabbed me!

The way he draws faces is definitely notable. Especially females, which you can see in these two screenshots from Kon's last animated short before he passed away: Ohayo(Good Morning)

Tokyo Godfathers: pretty good movie btw

I've been watching Owari no Seraph, and I'm loving the art style!
Assassination Classroom's art style is great too!

disregarding plot of course , i really like these animations:

fate ubw,
guilty crown
kyoukai no kanata
K

i guess i like styles that do action scenes very prettily and are just all around vivid. but i also like styles like

mushishi
natsume yuujinchou
studio ghibli films

but those are a different kind of beauty.

i do not like shaft animations, or anything that has to with constant shifting of bright colors. Hurts my eyes.

I really like Trigger's edginess with its style, especially in Kill La Kill:

KLK's predecessor Gurren Lagann also had an awesome artstyle:

but definitely ufotable shows have the most fantastic art.

Other's I really liked were AoT's art style with the thick edges and epic shading:

Assassination Classroom kind has a similar style to AoT's, except it's a bit different. I love how it looks:

Then last, but certainly not least is Nagi no Asukara. The art looked so shining, detailed, and magnificent, it was like the art was going to melt off the screen it was so good:

I have a lot of favorite styles of anime, but i figured i'd choose the style that Madhouse did with Hells. Idk as anyone has seen it (it takes some digging to find it) but its got a very unique style to it that i haven't seen anywhere else. They somehow managed to make jagged scribbles look gorgeous in animation and although i can't say much for the plot of the movie alone, the animation is the reason that i watched it in the first place, and i was not disappointed. I would love to see this some more, but i can't even imagine all the hours spent drawing each frame of this film. Definitely a treat for the eyes

The closest i've seen to it outside of this movie is in a few gainax shows and a few trigger ones

i'm may be biased since i love it so much, but Nagi no Asukara ( a lull in the sea) is the best looking anime i have ever seen.

So far alot of animes produced by P.A. Works turned out really really nice. Hanasaku Iroha was another i really like also.
