Kore- This Used when something close to the speaker
Sore-That- Used when something close to the listener
Are - That- Used when something is both far from the speaker and listener.

これ は なん ですか。What is this?
これ は かばん です。 This is a bag.

それ は なん ですか。What is that?
それ は ねこ です。 That is a cat.

あれ は なん ですか。 What is that over there?
あれ は いぬ です。 That is a dog.

Somewhat similiar to Kore,Sore and are...except your putting the noun after and before the subject marker は。
Note- Kono、Sono, and Ano are used to specify a certain item.
Example: This bag, This Shirt, This Toy ---- わかりました か。

Kono
Sono
Ano

この かばん は いくら です か。 How much is this bag?
The noun in this sentence is Kaban...

その ひと は いしゃ です。 That person is a doctor.
The noun I used after Sono is hito...which is person. Isha is doctor.

あの えんぴつ は かわいい です。 That pencil over there is cute.
The noun I used after ano is Enpitsu or pencil.

Notice how they help specify what noun I am talking about?

I am doing my best to explain them in as much detail as I can.... If you have any questions let me know.
