Ive recently finished Tokyo Ghoul and I would just like to know how the manga ended because the anime seems to leave you hanging on a few things...

You should probably read the manga from scratch. The Tokyo Ghoul manga is comprised of two parts, Tokyo Ghoul and then the sequel Tokyo Ghoul RE

The anime notoriously omitted quite a lot of things, not to mention it messed up one of the biggest and most intrigued arc of the series. They went from the 'Aogiri Base raid' arc, replaced ***** arc with the anime original 'Prison Raid' arc and then straight for Anteiku raid.

I suggest you should read the manga from chapter 1, that is if you're interested in the storyline and feel inclined to continue your journey onto TG:re.

I looked it up and apparently in the manga he loses his memory and becomes a special CCG squad. From what i gather it seems he may be close to getting his memory back. Take everything i say with a grain of salt as all i did was read some forum post and the wiki as i don't read manga. Is a shame though could have been a really great anime

i recently watched the anime and felt similarly to you about missing plot points and questions that left me confused so i went ahead and read the manga.

as most people have said you should read the entire manga. i dont necessary mind what the anime did, but it did leave out big arcs and story points that the manga made extremely interesting.

Its too hard to explain everything that happened differently, and i think you'd be robbing yourself of some enjoyment just hearing it from me but i will say a little.

i wont go into too much detail but the biggest arc was Kaneki exploring how he became a ghoul...which was great.

the second season has a different perspective on what happened than the manga, and while it may not be bad, the one in the manga is better constructed and more enjoyable i think.

ultimately its up to you what to think. i was skeptical reading an action manga since i really enjoyed watching the battles in the anime, but i got used to it after a few chapters and i was very pleased with the story,

the current story out right now is Tokyo Ghoul Re: which continues after what happened in the manga. if they made a 3rd anime season it would cover this...but in a completely different perspective because of the differences in the adaptation. Tokyo Ghoul Re: is awesome and id recommend it, but you would have to have read the original manga as well before doing this.

Hahaha so true. Studio Perriot completely ruined the adaption. The ending of season I got me pumped for season 2. But after two episodes into the second season, my hopes were quickly deflated to say the least.

How the manga ended can't simply be told...
You should go read it yourself if you really care about the story.

I'm currently reading the manga, and I have to say that it's VERY different from the anime. They left out things that help understand what happens.

well a sequel manga came out and is still ongoing(tokyo ghoul: re)... but if the sequel series didn't exist you'd basically feel like it was a shitty tragic ending with a lot of plot unexplored and loose ends unresolved... so yeah it's similar to the anime ending in that respect.
