tried finding a thread about this but its hard to search when the topic is so specific lol.
So if one exists mods please point it in my direction.

Anyway, so i wanted to discuss heroes and/or villains you guys think should have been WAY more powerful than the authors led you to believe based on either plot or the authors lack of scientific understanding lol. And perhaps characters you think should have been far less powerful.

The character i had in mind was Sasori from the earlier stages of Naruto shippuden, in case you forgot he was the akatsuki puppet master. And more specifically i wanted to talk about his Third kazekage puppet.

Basically this puppet/person could control control iron sand, probably by using chakra to create magnetic fields to manipulate the sand, basically this guy is magneto.. MAGNETO!

Now the magnetic fields are only as strong as the chakra of the person using the technique so this might be where the weakness comes in. But if i am to consider that all members of the akatsuki have impressive amounts of chakra as they pretty much all do, it should be somewhat safe to assume the ability of sasori to manipulate the sand isnt that limited. Also consider that hey. HE CONTROLLED 100 PUPPETS AT ONCE, lol.

So i am led to believe that the reason Sasori didnt just immediately curbstop sakura and chiyo was because plot. I mean if you had iron sand, and apparently quite a lot of it. it should have been quite a simple feat to not only just fire bullets at your opponent at every angle possible, not just dead on allowing a simple shield to block them. But it also should have been feasible to just fill the entire room with microscopic pieces of iron, allowing your opponent to unwittingly inhale it, then have their entire insides ripped to shreds.

So i guess one of my main points is when it comes to characters and their powers, if they are going to be given such an amazing skill, i would always appreciate a simple explanation on why they suck with it, instead of the obvious "no explanation needed its for the plot device."

Now i am definitely a person who doesnt take these things too seriously because i don't like these thoughts to get in the way of me enjoying episodes of any show, i just thought it would be a good discussion topic because i am sure there have been lots of characters you all have seen that should have done so much better than they did based on the abilities they had.

The Dwarf in the Flask from Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood. I mean, the guy literally becomes God himself and can summon a Sun in his hands. What's more is throughout the show part of the buildup is getting to him achieving his goal of becoming God, but he got his ass handed to him way too easily. My memory's a little hazy since it's ages since I saw the show, but if I recall he got his powers removed and then beaten, but he actually got his powers right near the end of the series. It felt like they gave them to him and took them away so fast they didn't really have time to do anything interesting with him. They just weakened him then let him get beaten to a pulp which is kind of a shame given he is, for a time, the strongest character in the show.

This is definitely one of the more interesting thread topics, but I can't think of anything besides Orihime from Bleach, because of what Aizen said about her having the power to reject reality itself. So, she could basically make anything un-happen, but Kubo has yet to do anything about this. Or about Orihime at all.

The other thing I can think of is Tienshinhan from DBZ. I'm pretty sure his entire life is training in the mountains, so he really trains just as much as everyone else, if not more, but he ends up not doing much of anything unless he uses his life-force depleting moves.

ya i do agree that orihime could have been exploited to do incredible things. But i do think the reasoning why she didnt do much battle wise was that even though her ability to do great things, the shield thing she made was weak and anyone with greater power could easily break it.
