Probably old age, but I'm sure that's not the answer you are looking for. Other than that, carbon monoxide.

Carbon monoxide, completely painless and even if you don't die, there are no painful consequences, you'll just get brain damage or all that could happen is you could lose your memories or sometimes lose the ability to not retain new memories but this is sometimes temporary.

Carbon monoxide, dying while you're in sleep.. things like that. I think knives are scary so I wouldn't mention being cut.

Least painful way to die; in old age, surrounded by those you love, while you play through the memories of your life in your mind. Though I know that is not the intent of the question.

Probably a combination of a strong sedative and carbon monoxide.

I agree with this one, you'd be disintegrated before you knew what hit you.

Why have some said drowning? That's a pretty painful way to go, at least right until your consciousness starts to fade and your nervous systems are shutting down.. getting water in your lungs and fighting your way to the top.. no thank you.

And yeah, carbon monoxide. (haven't you read the news about that couple having sex in their car while it was still running? died right there after an hour without any alarm).

I'd say most gas poisoning. Depends on the chemical makeup and how it affects your nerves and shiz. Pretty much what everybody else is saying.

Any death that has a sleepiness feeling before death (gas, cold, etc.)
Anything that instantaneously kills the victim (bullet to brain; nuke/incineration;etc)

Technically, drowning would be considerably less painful than other options (fire, torture, etc.)
But in my opinion, the process of drowning has much panic (panic is a very painful emotion)

As long as you die in less than 81 milliseconds, then you would feel nothing. For the longest time, i was annoyed whenever someone said that someone else died instantly and painlessly. I thought to myself, "how do they know?" Because I knew that you would feel something right before you died, even if it was only for a split second. Signals to the brain are fast. i just wasn't how fast, until i saw some scince videos on youtube. Anyways, as long as your death is less than 81 milli-seconds, then it literally be painless. If it is anything longer than that, well, you are going to feel something, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

In reference to the Carbon-monoxide poisoning, it is not painless, just odorless. You have been getting poisoned a lot longer before you feel it, so even if you escape the gas, your body will continue to get worse before it gets better. Seek medical attention.

Helium, like carbon-dioxide, is not particularely harmful, however, you need oxygen. So if there is not enough oxygen because your breathing air is completely replaced with a non toxic substitute (ie... helium) then you would suffocate, which is not very comfortable, and can be painful because your body stops metabolizing, and you will feel that.

People say drowning is painless, but i've held my breath for a very long time (on land and in water), that by itself is painful. You should try it right now. hold your breath. By the time you get to a minute, you'll start to feel the pain. same thing happens when drowning. Then there is the physical struggle of trying to swim. And thridly, have you ever sucked in water through your nose and/or mouth. Painful. Not to mention how long it takes. The healthier you are the longer and more painful it is.

Chopping off a head doesn't work, because your head is going to feel the pain of your neck slice until your brain dies. Just because you are considered dead in general, doesn't mean you don't feel pain. Snapping someone's neck falls under the same thing.

All in all, you are left with only one way to die painlessly. Bullet to the brain is fast enough, sure, but it is not encompassing enough. So that won't do. The only way to ensure utter destruction of the brain, and cause immediate death, is a tad bit larger. What do i mean by immediate death? As long as the time between impact with your skin and destruction of your brain takes less than 81 milliseconds, then you won't feel a thing. On top of that, once your brain is destroyed, there will be nothing to let you know that your pain receptors are going off. your spine reacts to pain, which is what reflexes are caused by, but it doesn't feel the pain on our behalf.

So the answer to your question: Cannonball.

You're Welcome.

Nuclear Death would be painless as well, but it's not as funny as a cannon ball.
