Has anime ever motivated you? Like for example watching eye shield 21 made you want to get into football or a main character from a anime made you want to be a better person? What effects does anime have on you have you ever had that empty sad feeling from finishing a anime (example for me is gurren lagaan) or even made ya cry. I believe anime is a strong medium that we can learn life lessons from. Please give me your thoughts fellow crunchyrollers

Well at the very least watching Assassination Classroom made me consider how little I actually study for stuff.

I get the feeling it has affected me, but not in any very direct way. I haven't picked up any hobbies or anything due to anime, nor has it affected my personality. But I just get the feeling that watching something for 20 years will surely affect you.

I watch anime for entertainment and not for motivation or salvation, and if I want a morality play I'll reread :"Everyman".

I think a lot of anime (slice of life in particular) exemplifies simple but valuable concepts- working hard on your own and with others as a team, finding and pursuing a dream, being honest with your feelings, appreciating the seasons and other aspects of the natural world. I often feel that I've gained a greater capacity for enjoying the moment, working hard, and finding value in everyday experiences once taken for granted or overlooked for having watched a lot of anime. Shows that offer little in the way of plot can offer quite a lot of value in other capacities, and I have found little value of the same kind in most western media. I've yet to come across a single American television show that imbues positive sentiments like Kimi ni Todoke, Baby Steps, or Tamako Market can.

It motivates me to go through school so I can come home and watch more anime.

Yes.

Aria inspired me to be a better person. I haven't radically succeeded, but it has influenced my life a bit. It's made me look at mundane things with a fresh eye and realize that a positive outlook can completely change your experience of the world around you.

As I said, I'm still working on it - but every now and then I remember lines from that show and it inspires me to try my best and remember that life is actually a really wonderful thing

Akari Mizunashi has influenced me more than most real people have. Obviously not as much as family, friends, and things of that nature, but after all those things, she's probably at the top.

EDIT

The nickname the cafe owner gives her- "Miss Expert of Happiness" - isn't a nickname that comes out of nowhere.

If anything, the opposite. Gives me more to do while procrastinating and keeps me up all night.
