Lets get this out of the way, what Griffith did was terrible, he sacrificed all the members of the Band of the Hawk, and worse of all he raped Casca. mentally destroying her mind.

Here's the thing though, if he had never been reborn as Femto, then they would of lost to the Kushin invasion, Ganishka was just to strong.

Most importantly, Griffith is a great leader, he's not a tyrant, he has made it so that demons and humans can live together, he has made a prosperous capital city, where all are welcome and is currently sending teams out made of both humans and demons to fight the evil that is attacking people.

What really can Guts and his group do, they will go see the Elfs, possibly help Casca, and then what? Go and fight through a whole army to kill Griffith? That just sounds like it would cause more trouble then anything. This is a story where the heroes victory will be at the expense of everything else.

The part of Guts that wants revenge is represented by his 'Hellhound' persona, which Guts has constantly fought against pretty much establishing that Guts is no longer actively interested in revenge against Griffith.

The World they are in is hell and the God Hand literally tormented Griffith in a literal version of his own hell, and offered him the chance to be above it. The only one capable of being over it.

So Griffith came to understand the truth; if you want to rule Hell, you have to be the Devil. Granted it seems for the most part that anyone that chose to become a demon most of their former self is lost especially because in the following moments everything Griffith believed he threw aside. The entire world has become his hell and he rules it,.

The only time Gatts seem to want revenge now is when his rage envelopes him which means whenever he sees Griffith.
However I believe Gatts will indeed take revenge if offered to him he wouldn't care about the consequences or the completel destruction it would bring.

That's basically the ultimate dilemma of Berserk isn't it?
If Guts doesn't take revenge, then what happens? Does he retire, hang up his sword and stew in madness? Lame conclusion to the story, imho. His whole journey from the eclipse onwards started with seeking revenge and it's made him into the guy he is presently.
If he does take revenge, the whole world is screwed. No Griffith = everything falls apart.
