Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is a show that truly lives up to its name: A truly bizarre odyssey that transcends time and covers the globe. The special powers are ludicrous, the level of manliness camp is outrageous, and the residents of the world speak perfect Japanese, with the main character (one of them anyways) being an Englishman speaking broken English.

But the strange supernatural powers and epic tales aren't the only things that make JJBA iconic, no! Let us not forget the other trait that skyrockets its level of fabulous to mythic proportions. That's right baby: I'm talking about DEM POSES! These poses aren't just for superficial reasons either. When you see a JJBA character doing his power up pose, you know SHIT IS ABOUT TO GO DOWN!

Here is my personal list (feel free to list yours also - BUT READ MINE FIRST!) of the greatest, the manliest, the most flawless and dynamic poses thus far in the JJBA anime!

5. Baron Zeppeli Demonstrates Hamon to Jonathan Joestar

The Late, Great Baron Zeppeli is the man that introduced Hamon ("the Ripple") powers to the entire Joestar family to begin with, and as such, this list would not be complete without him. The moment Zeppeli takes a deep breath, we witness his awesome control over the supernatural powers of Hamon. The water around his ankles ripple (you don't say?), and his fist drops on a frog harder than a dubstep DJ dropping the bass, only for the frog to come out unharmed as the rock it was sitting on shatters. A remarkable technique that will continue in the legacy of the Joestar family for generations to come.

4. Dio's Dastardly Back

The one and only vampire who can sparkle and NOT be considered a pussy. Dio Brando is one truly malignant, unforgivable bastard - and we love to hate him. But who could hate this iconic pose of him practically hugging himself? You may think he's just some narcissist (and you're not wrong), but it's said in JJBA lore that Dio was so seductive, he could wrap you around with his charm regardless of your gender and sexual orientation. DAMN, that's some scary game you got there Dio.

Another pose worth mentioning is Kar's pose from Battle Tendency. It's basically what Dio's pose would look like from the front. However, Dio's ominous turned head is far more iconic.

3. Jojo and Caesar Pose Off

What's better than a super masculine pose? How about TWO super masculine poses!? Once an unfortunate death occurs, both Jojo and Caesar are struck with grief and rage, and both of them pose together for a counterattack! The double pose is so intense, the dark room they were in literally exploded in a rainbow of color and awesomeness. Shit was about to go DOWN, son!

2. Jack The Ripper's Sharpest Pose

Even though he didn't live very long, I had to give this one to Jack The Ripper. While most other poses are charging up for attacks, his pose WAS his attack! The man flexes his entire body so hard, it launches knives out from under his skin! As a result, this brief but fantastic pose was very memorable to me.

And now, NUMBER ONE: THE GREATEST POSE IN JJBA EVER!

1. Polnareff's........ Pose

I don't even know what to call it. It's just magnificent and awe-inspiring. While I giggled off the other poses and accepted them for what they are, this pose made me go WTF, rewind, pause and rewatch the scene over and over again. It defies gravity, space and pretty much all logic. How is his leg stretched so far back? How is his entire body that parallel to the ground without touching it? Is this even possibly with a screwy camera angle and special lenses? This pose made me question life, the laws of nature, and even the limits of my imagination. Even the immortal Dio and the godly Kars have limits to their posing ability, while this man has none. Congratulations Jean-Pierre Polnareff, your pose has left a profound effect on me, and is my number 1 pose in JJBA.

Now that my list is complete, what are your favorite JJBA poses?

I forgot about Von Stroheim. Bravo!

And in spite of the quantity of manliness in the four pic, I have to disagree because of the dynamic posture and sheer magnitude of manliness radiating an entire spectrum of light from Joseph and Caesar. If it wasn't adapted for television, I wouldn't think my mortal eyes could handle such fabulousness!

Not sure if I can make a top list at the drop of a hat, but this pose tho! And ACDC's and Kars's poses aren't that bad in this shot too.

Love the other animes paying tribute to Jojo! That's could honestly be a thread of its own! Here's some other Jojo tributes I remember seeing.

No Game No Life

There's also a moment in Genshiken Nidaime where Kenjirou Hato's spiritual alter ego asks herself what she is? "Am I a ghost? Or maybe a Stand?"
