I think it'd be really nice if Crunchyroll could make it so that each chapter has a comment section, and the Manga parent directory can have reviews written for it much like we do for Anime.

It's one thing other manga outlets have done right (though they use Disqus), it's always nice to chit-chat about a release a little bit.

Currently the only Manga I read off of Crunchyroll is UQ Holder! but I think everyone would benefit from this.

Not sure if CR takes suggestion threads (didn't see a dedicated suggestions forum category, that might be another good idea), but I just thought I'd put that out there.

By the way, I'm new, so I guess hello Crunchyroll community, I hope you're relatively nice. I quit Reddit recently (it's become an S-Grade circlejerk) so I need to try some other communities to take the place.

Thanks!

It sounds like a good idea to me. I honestly dont read much manga in comparison to the amount of anime i watch but I've easily watched over 400 episodes of anime to be fair. Reviews and comments sound like a cool idea for manga. You can discuss what you like and disliked about that chapter Like for anime. The question for me would be where would it go? Putting it under every page? Making tabs for it? Either way seems like a good idea. as long as there's a spoiler option doesnt look like much bad can come from it.

Welcome! :D

Honestly, the crunchyroll manga reader is pretty annoying, so ive never really used it much. However a comment section would definetely make things more interesting.

Welcome to Crunchyroll! There is a "Suggestions / Feedback" forum in the "Help" section of the forums (you'll see it along with site and device support forums if you click the arrow next to "help" on the main forums page). I've gone ahead and moved this thread there.

Also, please don't name sites that provide access to content they don't have rights for--it's against CR 's site rules. I've made a small edit to your post to remove the site name you mentioned.

I like reading, so it's my kinda thing. I love seeing it animated too of course, but I view both. Often times anime will totally derail from the canon story (EG: Soul Eater, Akame ga Kill, Rosario Vampire [TERRIBLY]) so I like to be sure and the manga, in these cases, is pretty much always the superior, even though I like to see what the anime devs can brainstorm up as well and see their take of things on top of it.

Well, I was kinda thinking something like this:

Though that's just a quick idea.

Yeah I kinda tend to read other site's stuff whenever they have it, I like their uncompressed manga that can take up my screen instead of how the Crunchyroll UI works.

Currently UQ Holder is all I read on Crunchyroll because for the big three, Toriko, Fairy Tail, and Akame ga Kill, others do great for. Soul Eater, Negima, and Rosario Vampire ended a while ago so they're off the list now I guess, unfortunately.

Another site (I won't give names since it seems against rules) was doing UQ Holder but apparently dropped it due to the translator's schedule not permitting it, and when I asked if maybe I could help with redrawing at least to make it a bit easier for them (I have nothing to do, so I look for hobby work sometimes) their staff also told me that series is difficult for other reasons:

UQ holder being dropped was announced a long time ago, it was just too much work compared to other series. Some magazines require a lot more work than others to do series from, and UQ Holder is from the worst quality printed magazine out there.

So now I'm back to Crunchyroll for that since it's the only place that releases it in an acceptable quality. Thought there is a high-quality archive that's releasing it in acceptable quality they're always a couple of chapters behind. So if I want the latest, it's CR.

Welcome! :D

I'd like a UI overhaul for Crunchyroll manga if at all possible, the little flash player thing isn't something I'm much a fan of. However it's good enough to get by, still much better than some sites with terrible compressed manga with huge watermarks and the likes, but I would like a bit of a different interface (preferably one not flash related, I think the net will be better when it cuts it's dependency on the vulnerability-ridden flash, HTML5 and the likes taking it's place) if at all possible. Most sites just use image hosting and javascript it seems.

Ah, it seems I overlooked it because that whole forum category is collapsed by default. My bad.

I understand the technical issue there, besides it's probably best to not blab on my sources on a more official site like that, it might just attract more attention to it which could lead to it's takedown. I personally am paying for the Crunchyroll subscription which I figure is supporting the mangaka and such, so I tend to just get my stuff from whatever source seems to be giving the best results. Since I'm even using ad and script blockers one wouldn't even be able to make the argument that I'm helping them via ads or something.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes, hope I've got a place here, ahaha.

Edit: Oh my, it looks like you can't expand images in a lightbox or anything here. Here's an imgur mirror for that image in case it's too small for you to see. I guess that's another suggesting to give for the forums:

By the way, is there a BBcode for horizontal lines here? Seems [hr] doesn't work here. Also making hyperlinking text doesn't seem to work, I tried "[url=HTTP://]TEXT HERE" as well as the "link" variant of the same code but neither seem to work. Is there a markdown primer for Crunchyroll around? Thanks.

Eh, I take it back, the Manga Reader is okay, it just has to grow on you a little. Really it's kinda nice once you get used to it, the two-page view and all, and it has the best quality scans I've ever seen etc, guessing it's all because it's the official real deal.

But that said, I still think it'd be best to move away from Flash if at all possible. Also to make it possible to hide the bottom bar from view when using fullscreen and to disable the "scale to my viewpoint" thing that's going on (for users that don't mind scrolling). Maybe I'll make a separate post about that though.

And it really needs a better view for seeing past chapters. The side-scrolling thing makes it so that you have to press the left arrow a ton of times to get to chapter 01.
