I picked up a new Italian cookbook for finger food. Now I just need to find time to actually try some of the recipes.

Italian is always good, though i don't know if I've had Italian finger food. I'd it region specific or more pan-Italian? Are they like Spanish tapas?

These are more like small dishes that would either be served as an appetizer or dessert. For the most part, I don't recall Italy having any tapas-like tradition, though serving dishes family-style is common.

Delicious! Always love me some lasagna. Just make sure that you ship all of use some of what you make.

I like risotto alla Lombardy. Mmm, so decadent.

What is that? I have never heard of it. I have had risotto, but I have never had Lombardy.

I don't mean to interrupt your conversation about food...*mmmm*...fooood.
Do the Japanese think suicide bomber when they hear kamikaze or do they think crazy old tsunami!

edit: obviously you aren't Japanese so I don't expect you to know 100%.
(hope that doesn't sound aggressive )

I'm inclined to believe that they think of the pilots first but understand the connection to the historical storms that fended off the Mongols.

What are the kanji that make up Kamikaze? I am inclined to think that kami means "god".

神風 divine wind. It refers to a series of storms that destroyed most of the Mongol fleet sent to Japan in the Kamakura era. The special squadron was designated this to symbolize their hope for changing the outcome of the war. Obviously it failed after the first shock wore off.

I got another question for you guys

Is the word 変態 a big insult in japan? I ask because I just recently befriended a Japanese Person as a penpal, we've talked to eachother through e-mail and such. I was going to ask for proof that they weren't a pervert old man and that I would do the same.

So is pervert a bad insult?

The term isn't as innocuous as the word is in English. Japan has quite a few societal norms that are expected to be followed much more closely than other places, but it is also something that has only really taken hold for the general population in the last century or so. They have been loosening up in recent years, but i'd say the term could be taken poorly by some people still.
