Wisdom

A question brings an answer, when searched for long and hard enough
An answer brings knowledge, which can be used foolishly, or wisely, if used foolishly, it will bring you wisdom in a hard and roundabout way, if used wisely, then it will bring wisdom
Wisdom, comes from asking questions, living life foolishly and wisely with the knowledge we are given, and with knowledge we asked for and have received through diligence and hard work.
Age does not dictate wisdom, if a young child asks many questions, and works hard to understand and use the knowledge they have been given, then even a child can be called wise, just as an adult who has nothing but questions and no drive to find answers and knowledge can be called a fool.
The more you know, but the less you understand, is not a great way to live, seek to know, work to understand, and teach the same drive to others. This is in my opinion, the essence of wisdom.

I Am

I'm not so evil that I'd lead others to their deaths, however I am also not so saintly as to stop someone who wishes to die..
I am not so high that I should rule and have dominion over others, however I am also not so low that I would be walked upon and taken for granted..
I am not so bright to believe I hold mental bearing over everyone, however neither am I so dull that I cannot distinguish between truth and lie, fact and fiction..
I am not so - Yet I am so
I am who I am and I shall be what I shall be
What I chose to be is merely who and what I am
I am me

Weapons

Weapons are faceless.. emotionless.. tools of destruction, and deceit... A single blade can end a single life, or a thousand. Their thoughts come from their wielder, should the wielder be clouded in judgment, the weapon, be it blade or otherwise, cannot be used to its full potential. A blade can be your mightiest enemy, as well as your most trusted friend, but even a blade can turn on it's master, if it's master is but a fool. A blade can sing through the air, dance in blood, and it can hum with the chorus of mangled screams.. but no weapon, not a single one, can speak for it is forbidden... No a weapon does not speak.. it does not hide it's master secrets, nor does it accept secrets from it's master. A weapon and it's master must not hide themselves from each other, just as a man and a woman bonded are likewise the same. However, a weapon cannot replace emotions, it cannot suppress or change or even create memories, it cannot cause happiness.. because of this, a man may be bonded to his weapons when he is strong, but he will always be bonded to his partner, when he is weak.. Only a man who knows weakness, can be strong, only a man who knows sadness, can find what it is to be truly happy, only a man who is damaged, can find peace, and only a man who truly knows loneliness, can appreciate others in ways they truly deserve. When a man has experienced the pains of this Earth, of this world, when he has grasped the mentality to move forward, when he has his comrades, and his family, his honor, and his pride, when he has grasped his partner, that man, at that moment, is the very essence of strength. He can never be defeated. He can never be brought to his knees. He will never give up. He will not die. His memories will live on. I strive to be this kind of man every day, for my family, for my comrades, for myself, and someday, for my partner. Let no weapon stop me, let no obstacle obstruct my path. Let not a single soul stand in my way. I am that which I am. I am myself, which is the essence of strength. Do not fear me, do not awe me, only attempt with your own being, to understand me...

I Am Proud (A Vow)

I am proud of my eyes.. they've seen pain, death and despair.. but they continue to watch over me, and this world I wander..
I am proud of my body.. It has been beaten, starved, bashed, and cut.. yet my legs keep walking me forward, my arms keep holding me and others up strong, and it stays warm no matter how cold and relentless the world that I wander gets..
I am proud of my heart.. it has been played, broken, cheated, and torn, it's been lonely and sad.. but it keeps beating to the rhythm of life, it keeps going, right along with me in this world I wander..
I am proud of my friends.. They have been through so much with me, each one is special, an individual all their own, each one found a different way to me, to my heart.. They can all rest knowing that I will always be there for them, in this world of craziness..
I am proud of my family.. they never knew what was happening to me until the end, but each one means more to me than words can describe, despite the past.. They brought me into this crazy world, they along with many other things, shaped me into who I am today..
I am proud to be who I am, I am proud of every lesson I have learned, whether I learned it the easy way or the hard way. I am proud of making the choices I made, the mistakes I made as well. I am proud, because if I spent all my time being in a pit of despair, how could I move on? How could I take people with me on grand adventures? I made mistakes, ones that I can and will admit to if asked to, but I also learned from them. They make me wiser, they make me a better man. I might be Ian to some, and Xan to others, but who I am cannot be given a name. Who I am is an essence, an essence that every man should be. I am a gentleman. A rare breed. For when things are at their worst, that's when I decide NOT to give up. My body, my heart, my eyes, my friends, my family, didn't give up on me, what gives me a right to give up on myself, on my soul? I will not die, not until my will is done on this Earth. I am not immortal, but if I am good at anything, it is not dying. So give up on me ever giving up, I vow to live, to better my skills for my self, and to better my self for others.

This is a bit of randomness I'm writing as I stare at this screen:

Opening your eyes your are met by the breaking of dawn. Your ears are assaulted by a graceful but wild sound of a thousand birds. Their song in pursuit of a mate.

The damp chill on the subtle breeze implies spring. Wasn't it just summer and you were at your desk? Surely this is a dream...

You rub the sleep from your eyes. Dampness on your clothes draws attention to the strange almost burlap pants and cotton top that ties loosely at the neck. This new attire leaves you searching your body to find a quiver bound at the hip by your dominant hand.

Across from it at your other hip is tied a blade that when drawn reaches just past the length of your elbow. On the ground nearby rests a red brown bow with a hand tied leather grip and a string of beads and feathers hang in a row on a soft twine from it.

As you glance around again your eyes settle on a woman nearby. Her hair is long, tied into a set of braids down one side. He color reminds you a bit of a soft orange gold sunset sky. Her eyes are settled on a map in front of her. From this angle they appear golden yellow, but she's not looking directly at you.

Her eyebrow is pierced on this side and as she looks down you notice the elegantly long pointed ear is pierced six times. A chain hangs from her nose, pinned on the side opposite you.

An attempt to sit spots pain through your left side and you cringe placing a hand on a bloodied bandage.

The woman looks at you. Beneath her right eye is a tattoo..two peaked lines, one red seated stop a black. Her voice is slightly musical as she speaks. "You were stabbed twice. You should not stand. I am Dai'Phae of the Dineh... what do they call you?"

((Hmm I just realized I randomly introduced you to a character I know.. *smirks*))

I started writing reader insert type stoires.. it's hard to neutralize it to balance both male and female characters. Though its fun. This one was specifically either/or. I actually.. just sat down to take a break at work and founndmyself writing. This, happens pretty often.
