But seriously, what is the whole hullabaloo about Singaporean English? Why look at ours? Nothing is Perfect anyway. You might as well look at the way PRC people speak English, or those from Hong Kong, Malaysia, Africa, even the USA. And, one should always not forget to notice the log in one's eye instead of the splinter in anothers'. Personally, i don't mind the way Singaporeans speak English. So what if others find it a tad difficult to grow accustomed to it? Isn't that the same in every country? So, GO SINGLISH! AND SINGAPOREAN ENGLISH!

That is very true and anyway English is one language that has 'stolen' of alot of words from the other languages. Just look at certain english words like "rendezvous" or "tête-à-tête" which is used and they have their origins from the french. Thus i would say perhaps English language instead of being 'murdered' have in fact robbed other languages. Unlike the french whom have the Académie française (French academy) to regulate the french, english has no one to regulate.

yeah... haha... the English have murdered and mutilated a lot of languages, now its pay-back! lol... jkjk.... but, in retrospect, thats the beauty of languages... they constantly evolve and and adapt... a bit like water? taking the shape of its container... English is modified to fit the culture and idiosyncracies of the place it's spoken in...

Thats why English is the most spoken language in the world resulting in the many different accents for it.

They assume that everyone in Singapore speaks that way.. in any case their first language is not English, unlike Singapore, so they're at the losing end. Laughing at others wouldnt make their english sound any better.
