I would be a organ donor... But I am paranoid and think that if that is listed, they will have less reason to save my life if I get into a tragic accident.

Nope. I don't feel like giving my organs to other people I don't even know.

Why, just wondering? Not like you'll need anything.

Yep,I am. I've been involved in four transplants from donors and its an amazing thing. Once I'm gone there's no reason to keep them.

I plan to be an organ donor as well. As long as they don't take my eyes, Iunno I wanna keep them They mine. Have everything else but my brain, eyes, and heart.

I'm undecided. I'll probably end up being one, but I don't trust doctors all that much and I don't like the idea of being registered somewhere as a donor.

I 'believe' I am, you see, I live in Australia and when you get your license, they ask you 'do you want to be an organ donor?'. So my license says I am, but I recently heard you actually need to opt in via another form, since it is possible that the evidence provided by your license isn't enough. So I have full intention of letting them splice me up, but I think I need to find out more information. I also try to donate blood and blood plasma, since the lives you save also effect the people who know and love those people. My philosophy is, if we're all generous, then we all benefit more. ^_^

I'm a nurse with a specialty in burn care. Having seen just the difference skin grafts from donor can do to the ease the healing process of my burn patients, there's no way I can choose not to be an organ donor.

And let's face it, if we needed the organs, we would want people to donate them. So if something ever were to happen to me, than if I can help more people live, then I will!

By the way, you can make a difference in the life of at least 9 people
-1 person for the heart
-1 person for the lungs
-2 people for the liver (they make 2 liver out of one)
-2 people for the kidneys
-1 person for the pancreas
-2 people for the retina
- and more with skin grafts

You entitled to your choice, but give it a serious thought.

There is a very strict procedure to undergo before they select you as a donor, and they will try everything to save your first. The only two valid diagnosis for organ donation is to be either brain dead or the heart is damaged there's no coming back. Either way, there's a very strict list of tests before doctors can confirm the diagnosis. The law is very strict about it.

Yes.

But I'm not sure anyone would want my rotten organs--I haven't treated my body really well past several years.

About the skin graft, do you guys actually match the color complexion of the patient? Or do you just take whatever's available?
