I have a lot of feelings about Noragami.

Does anyone else have a lot of feelings about Noragami?
There's obviously a lot more story to go, so many questions unanswered. How does Father use a shinki? What's his deal anyway? Can they save Bishamon's shinki that was touched my the monk's staff? How did Yukine die?

Thoughts, feelings, theories?

I'm pretty sure Yukine was a victim of child abuse, judging from those little flashbacks on the anime. He either died of neglect or suicide. He seemed pretty angry about the fact that he wasn't able to have a normal child hood and go to school with other kids because whoever was minding him (I'm guessing his dad, as hints show his mom and sister leaving with suitcases) either could not afford to send him or was too busy making a living to participate in his life. As of him being found near the mailbox, he probably wrote many letters to his mom and sister to come get him, but they were either never sent or answered.

I assume Yukine's childhood and death were abnormal, in one chapter Yato briefly mentions trying to be like a father for Yukine since he didn't have much of one when he was alive. So probably some not good things going on there. I don't think he killed himself though, I was under the impression people who committed suicide couldn't become shinki, or at least not usable ones like the girl who becomes a broken mirror for Bishamon. I'm not sure about that though.
I don't think Yukine was mad about not being able to do normal teen stuff because of his childhood, simply for the fact that shinki don't remember anything about their past. I think it was because he was bitter that he was already dead and doesn't get a chance to grow up like a normal kid and have friends, he kind of gets over that when he realizes that it's not going to change and he can still have good friends even in the afterlife.
I never thought about him being found near the mailbox, I wonder if your right and that does have some significance... hmmm

Anime wasn't *that* bad. It does diverge from the manga towards the end as I suppose it was tying to make a proper ending for it since producers weren't expecting that there's going to be a second season (so no cliffhangers). I read the manga first before the anime and it's pretty spot on, although some parts were condensed and some were extended. I always view anime as separate entities and not a direct adaptation.

Yato actually does get a temple in some point. It's just not what you'd expect it to be. Manga is so much darker than the anime is letting on. Shinki (before they become shinki) are found near places that are important to them when they were alive. There's a lot of explanation in the manga that had to be re-read at least twice because of a lot of inferences.

Doubt we're going to see it until at least the Fall. From my experience shows usually get announced about 2 seasons ahead of release.

ok so hi i was thinking about something so in the manga you see when yato was a child and you see his first weapon he named not nora the other girl well in the time his possess Hiyori Iki's body he said to the question this is easy do know how long i have been a god but them with his first weapon you see how she died in the manga after he revels her name well she did from a man falling on his from a skyscraper which weren't around till now a days and his was still little at that point so he cant have been a god for that long which is weird because they make it seem like he has been a god for a long time but that would be impossible with see how his first weapon he got a s a child had died in our time period. what do you think.

I was under the impression that Yato and the other gods age at a different rate than humans. I may just be making this up, however. Also...

I really want to know how Yukine dies, that's why I'm going to buy as much Noragami manga as I can because I can't wait for the anime's next season :D
Although, I've read the first two and they are different to the anime in some aspects, so I'm sure that I'll still enjoy the next season as much as the first two.

Oh man, I don't want to spoil anything for you, but once you get to the part in the manga when they discuss what happens when a shinki's past life is revealed ... you won't wish to know Yukine's past anymore.

It really is such a well-done manga though. From storyline to artwork, definitely one of my favs.

Thanks for the insight! :)
I'll be sure to get them soon, and do you know if you buy manga on CR if it gets sent to your house? Or is it available to read online only? It's just something I've been wondering so that I'll know what to buy
