In terms of social progress I think this is a fantastic age to live in. For all people complain, things are so much better than any other time in human history. Though the flip side is that this is the worse age to live in in terms of nature and environmental health.

That said, I think any time you choose is rather sub par. I shudder to think what lies for us in the future and the life the next generation will be born into. In the end I don't think I wish to be born in another time since there's a lot I enjoy in this life, even if the future is looking pretty bleak.

I wish there was an alternate universe where I could go to the late 50s-early 60s without having to deal with all the racism. Such an awesome era musically but there was a lot going on as far as being black goes

U never know u could be in "that future" but the past is a different case. I would like to experience the times when it was just simple hanging out outside, carriages and all but it has its flaws as well. I also wanna experience the future tech and all but.. I'm glad i'm here in this present. I've met so many people and learned a lot so i'm fine.

I think the time period we live in right now is the bomb. So much innovation and development happening, it's scary. Internet, space exploration, ...technology is incredible!

Sengoku jidai, carve out my place in the world with my own hands ala toyotomi hideyoshi, or the Bakumatsu for about the same thing. I have a hard time imagining if I'd be an imperialist or a shogunate supporter

Of course we have a lot more restrictions on smog and all that, but the fact of the matter is that the atmosphere is in really rough shape as it stands. Yeah we might have healthier air, but greenhouse gas levels are at an all time high and ice caps are melting at ridiculous rates. If GHG emission levels continue unchecked we can expect at least a 4 or so degree Celsius increase in global temperatures. On top of that you have the massive amounts of pollution originating from fertilizers in farms creating algal blooms that cause large dead areas in the water. Then there's all the plastic that's getting washed out to sea and slowly moving up the food chain. Next you have the declining populations of fish in the ocean as continuous fishing takes its toll. The list goes on and on, and I'm sure you get the idea.

Believe what you will, but this is the real state of affairs. The research has been done over and over and the verdict is that we're heading into one hell of a future. Continuing to live like kings will only serve to shoot us in the foot.

You remember when the vikings invaded Europe on foot?

Or the three different races that settled Greenland when it was warmer than now?

Or the old cities....

Really, there has been so much chicken little crap over the last 35 years, I'm tired of it.
