I haven't been with Crunchyroll for 5 years, but I am satisfied with the service so far. Crunchyroll picks up many big seasonal stimulcasts, so I'm pretty occupied every year.

I originally subscribed JUST to get Naruto Shippuden episodes the day of in HD quality (I think 720p was best when I joined on 02/06/2009) but when this site started getting more and more simulcasts it was even better. Thanks to Crunchyroll, I discovered a ton of series I would never had watched otherwise.

im a very very new member to Crunchyroll and im wondering are people satisfied with whats on the site. like i said im new and from what i can tell the catalogue is fairly new. but someones thats been here for lets say 5yrs and pays, are you satisfied. im very interested in whats coming to CR. how do they let you know about the new crop of shows that are coming

The money goes to their staff's wages, licensing the drama, anime, manga and probably the general cost of running a website this size(bandwidth, hosting).

How do we keep up with the stuff? I use Anime News Network. CR usually doesn't announce their shows until a few weeks before it airs so you use sites like that to tell you what's on the horizon that way you can come here and badger other people to get excited. The more word of mouth gets around the more attention a series could potentially get from companies like CR.

licensing fees, staffs, advertisements, promotions (like competition prizes or are they given by the anime producers??? :S)

_______

It's worth it imo.

I don't like how some ppl (in real life) talk like they don't want business owners to make any profits. and that pisses me off... the point of business is to make profits. you can't expect busineses to function without giving profits to the business.

and i hate stingy men... more than stingy women.

I found out about Gintama, amongst many other shows, thanks to Crunchyroll. I'm extremely satisfied with the service. When the servers aren't melting down into white hot goo. Which they're not as bad for, as of late.

Am I the only one who looks forward to those emails where they show you all the weird creepy anime figurines on sale?

I've been here fairly long. Maybe a month or two after they went legitimate. Their selection was really small and I almost stopped my subscription but found some rare gem type anime here I wouldn't have watched otherwise (Natsume Yuujinchou and Gankutsuou). I think it was those that prompted me to stay. Basically I felt if the staff had enough taste to pick shows like that, I'd stick around and see what else they could add.

I've been with CR since 2006. Nuked my old account though. Boy I miss the good ol' days of 2008 when CR had a MASSIVE flamewar over whether or not CR should go legit. I think a fairly strong majority at the time was against it, and so when they finally went legit a large portion of the community left. But hey it seems like it worked out in the end, although CR still need to get a lot of newer and older titles added.
