I guess I have a serious look, like I'm contemplating something, or like I'm annoyed at a conversation(at least that's what my friends think, because they always ask if I'm bored).

According to like 90% of the people I know, I'm always constantly frowning.

" Did you have a good day today?"
"Why?"
" Because you're actually smiling for once!"

"Why don't you smile more often?"

" Remember to SMILE for that picture! And I want a REAL smile! Not that fake smile you always pull off!" (???)

I literally don't smile so much that it makes people feel uncomfortable when I actually genuinely smile.

Mine's sort of neutral, really. Maybe a bit on the contemplative side. In public, though, I make a bit of an effort to look cheerful, to smile a bit. It goes a long way.

I just have a bored face, which I've been told makes me seem unfriendly apparently. But when I talk I try to actively look like I'm interested.

Why are you mad? (o.o")

I'm not mad? (-o-)

Yes you are, it's written all over your face. What's wrong? (-o-")

Nothing, I'm not mad? (^_^)

Now you even sound angry, sorry for bothering you. (-.-")

My neutral face looks kind of dismissive or condescending, so I tend to get a reputation as being severe or cold - until people actually get to know me, and learn that I'm easygoing and friendly, if a bit unsocial. It doesn't take much to put my face into motion; I'm pretty expressive when I'm around people I'm comfortable with, and polite and amiable in casual conversation, so once someone's spoken to me a couple times, they know I'm not unfriendly by any means. Usually, my neutral expression ends up getting written off as indicative of intelligence or a contemplative personality after this point (or at least, I think this is the case, as people always tend to identify me as such, even when I haven't given them reason to think that.) I feel this is unfair if I haven't displayed those traits to that particular person, but it's at least more accurate than assessing me as serious or stern.

That isn't to say that my other expressions aren't misunderstood at times, though. Like I said, my face likes to move around, and it turns out that the way I express some emotions might be a little odd. I've been mistakenly identified as confused, irritated, depressed or even angry, usually (but not always) while I'm either standing around contentedly or thinking about something. The latter is particularly prone to misinterpretation, as my face tends to react to my thoughts, so I can sometimes come off as a little erratic, when the truth is that I'm just spacing out.

Hostile Resting Face ain't no joke!! I have it hardcore. All through my life people have said to me, "Man, hope I didn't say something to piss you off," or "Are you mad at me?" But I'm never mad!! Its just that I look that way when I have no expression at the moment...Probably one of the reasons why I have no girlfriend.
