i watched a few shows i bought a few shows and overall i thought it sucked. the characters were great but the show itself never went anywhere. i think i expected too much out of it. also it felt like a stoned out version of Cowboy Bebop

Hate to say it, but I couldn't get past the 2nd episode. I thought it was stupid / Stupid, not fun Stupid.

I really enjoyed it. The way they managed to tie everything together in the end and take it back full circle...so gud. Oh, and Boobies.

I couldn't get into it. But then I could never get into Cowboy Bebop either.

I loved it, though I never went into it expecting or wanting something like Cowboy Bebop.

This. If you honestly thought it was going to be another Cowboy Bebop then your expectations were too high. It was very clear right from the beginning that this was not meant to be taken seriously, that most of the episodes were just gag stories, the the style and humor was the main attraction and that it was mostly meant to be a fun romp. Which it absolutely was. Though there were some episodes in the second season that got pretty deep in a very vague sort of way. I liked the show from the beginning, but in the second season I really began to love it.

To be honest: Yeah. It felt like Shinichiro Watanabe was trying to make Family Guy. I just didn't find it to be funny. I like stupid shit. But it has to be stupid fun shit. And this was just stupid. Dropped it after five episodes, couldn't take much more.

Yeah totally, though most episodes were comedy parodies (which were awesome in their own way) there were some episodes that were rather melancholy and emotional. Take episode 8 of season 2: "A World with No Sadness, Baby" That episode looks into the concept of sadness and the true meaning of life and death, taking a drastically more sombre approach than what had become the norm for Space Dandy. Another example would be Episode 5 of season 1: "A Merry Companion Is a Wagon in Space, Baby" which is probably my favourite episode of Space Dandy. It involves Dandy taking care of rare orphan ailen and trying to find a home for her whilst simultaneously being tracked by ailen hunters. So yeah, I'd hate to see people write Space Dandy off as nothing more as a stupid comedy without at least giving another look at some other episodes.
