Been buying all my figures from https://animegami.co.uk

Amazing customer support, they actually reply in less than 15mins every time I had to get in touch with them.

Loads of different payments methods and they provide deposits on Pre-Order.

Definitely recommended, specially with free shipping :o

I don't know if anyone here has recommended http://www.anime-island.com/ , but I like to browse here for figures. The site does look shady, but it's reliable. They offer free shipping world wide and on pre orders you can put down a 20% deposit to secure your order. Then when the item has come into stock they will email you with a link to pay for the remaining amount of the figure. The only down side for me is anime- island tends to receive their shipments from their suppliers later than other online stores. They also pack your items with an impressive amount of protection so your figure's box will be perfect condition. You can also got to jlist for items that aren't even sold in online stores based in America. Jlist ships straight from Japan to you, but that also means it takes forever to get to you if you don't pay for the expedited shipping. Right now, Jlist has a Miia statue from Monster Musume on preorder for $229.00 (why does it have to be so much?!).

I use cdjapan for most figures they usually get most on pre order. For figma, nendoroids etc which are made by good smile you can get them direct from their website for cheaper than anywhere else and they often give pre order bonuses. you can sometimes get them after release still from cdjapan if they have left over stock and they also include bonuses. For older figures, prize figures etc I buy from Yahoo Auctions and Amazon Japan to do this you need a proxy service that buys from Japanese stores and auctions on your behalf since you need a Japanese credit card. http://www.fromjapan.co.jp/en/ is my personal favourite for this just know you need to search in Japanese to find anything but most wiki pages have the Japanese spelling of the series you are looking for anyway.
