Post Reply FIFA Corruption and Hypocrisy
Posted 5/30/15
No big news for me~ why on earth would they want to have it there? Last World Cup was so corrupted. It's all about the money. It's always about the money. The games, players, referees!!!!!!!!!! Futbol had gone down hill, that's why I don't even hype myself up for my fave teams anymore. But in the end I still enjoy watching it! Hopefully the woman's World Cup is good and everything goes well!

FIFA is corrupt! Worse still they're communist. How? They pool the money and spread it evenly. How can a country like Luxembourg be given as much money as Brazil? It makes no sense!

Further, somehow all these sporting leagues/confederations/associations have 501(c) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/501(c)_organization when they make millions/billions of dollars a year. That isn't non-profit. What discernable benefit do I get as a citizen of the USA from MLB or NFL or NBA or FIFA. My city/state/national government is able to build stadium, arenas, etc., with my taxes. If I have to pay taxes, then these "entertainers" yes because it doesn't matter the sport (football, American football, baseball, basketball, auto racing, etc) they are just entertainers. They don't make the world a better place. They're been pay to play a child's game. Have to pay taxes too!

Oh yes, I watched this episode. He hates Sepp Blatter so much, but somehow he keeps getting reelected. The one good thing he does is that he stands up for th little guys, hosting the first ever world cup in Africa and the middle east

I thought it was cool that a World Cup was hosted in Africa, and Qatar's selection had me scratching my head because of how hot it gets there. I think they had promised some sort of cloud making machine (not sure exactly) to make the games playable, but then backtracked and said they couldn't do it.

FIFA is essentially the embodiment of corruption. This came as no surprise to me although I wish they nabbed Blatter.

I liked the Africa decision, it was a great world cup. I was saying that is how and why Sepp Blatter continues to be elected, he pays attention to the smaller countries

Blatter's the president of everybody now, so what can we do?

Remember that Simpsons episode where Homer is a referee and he's offered a lot of money to like do the corrupt bidding.

I believe it now.

How is FIFA corrupt for changing the location of a World Cup? Perhaps that's not all, but I mean come on... it's a sports related corporation, what could they do that would warrant FBI intervening? Rigging games? Who cares. Taking bribes to host games elsewhere? Who cares. Really, what could they have done?

Instead of asking lots and lots of questions and then dismissing it all by saying, "Who cares" you should actually find out what happened.

I don't understand why people are proud to display an opinion based entirely on ignorance. It's like you're holding up a sign saying, "Look at me I'm dumb!"

Good that people are cracking down on FIFA finally.
It's an absolute joke that the U.S is involved in this though.
Acting like we care about soccer as a nation (I care, the average American doesn't though)

It's laughable imo.

And for the record, I didn't even know where the f*ck Qatar was.
Had to google it.

Qatar may be a small country, but they have really been putting in an effort to improve their soccer which is one thing that many people don't mention. Al Sadd even got Raul to play for them for 2 years. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ra%C3%BAl_(footballer)

True but congress corruption is much more insidious and hard to pin down despite everyone doing it.

But that's the point I'm trying to make, the only good players they can get is by buying players. And Raul is no longer in his prime lol, far from it

Lol, i guess, cant hate them for that. But right now, they have a terrible soccer team and they automatically qualify for world cup since they are the host. But they have 7 years to become legit lol

There does seem to be some confusion about the way a world cup location is decided on.
It is not a bid where you give money its a bid about the location the stadiums the culture and all that.
If a country uses bribes to get votes than it is a corrupted deal.
2022 in Qatar will be a winter World cup because it can not be played during the summer.(if i remember correctly the final is to be played on the 4th Advent)
That will lead to a lot of leagues having to change there schedule just so it can happen.

Its also worth noticing that alleged 1200 workers died between 2010 and 2014 building stadiums in Qatar.
Fifa made 4826 million$ with the 2014 world cup while having expenses of 2224Mio$.
