I just watched SAO and SAO Extra Movie going to watch SAO 2, but it made me want to play some MMORPGs again. I was wondering if anyone recommends any? I don't like WoW really I want to play something new. The last time I really played any MMORPGs was maybe 6 or more years ago. I remember a lot of fun times with random people I never met before, starting a guild from the ground up, eventually buying a guild house, and just a lot of shenanigans. I never got that feeling from any other genre after I stopped playing them. When I tried to come back to genre no one ever talks to people anymore just people going through the motions trying to max out their characters or preying upon the newbies. So if anyone wants to play anything maybe we can make a small group and start out fresh with a brand new characters and a brand new game. We could add each other on steam/skype whichever people feel comfortable with. So anybody interested?

A upcoming game that is going "fresh" would be Blade and Soul NA/EU. I personally intend to play Blade and Soul. It has beautiful graphics, and similar combat style to Tera.

MMORPG's right now are boring as hell to me. We watch anime that make it looks super awesome to play, but we just aren't there yet lol. That being said, I'd be down to play.

Yeah I feel you but I had a lot fun in the 2 of the MMOs I played in years ago. I have heard ESO has improved immensely since it lanched awhile back I wouldn't mind trying that or guild wars 2.

I'm already invested in Destiny so I don't really have any more time if I want to play other games as well. so no.

also most of them look boring, generic fantasy worlds and all that.

I recently started playing TERA and it is pretty good so far, so I might recommend that maybe?

If you don't mind paying a monthly fee maybe you should try out Final Fantasy XIV A Real Reborn. It is getting an expansion soon. It's a pretty fun I played for a few hours. I think you can get a free trial on PC or if you buy it on PS3/PS4 it comes with a month free. I'm planning on getting back into it once I get a PS4 sometime either next month or in August.

Wildstar was a pretty fun game that really feels different from a lot of other MMO's due to it's combat mechanics. I got the game the day it was release and played it for 2-3 months or so. The end game didn't really grab me at the time so it was probably a month after I hit max level that I finally called it quits. I haven't kept up with the game since then though and it's been just over a year since the game came out so I'm sure new/improved content has come to the game since. Although it is shifting to free-to-play this fall so I guess that says something about the game (but really, how many MMO's these days that aren't WoW don't end up as free-to-play eventually).

Still, when it does go free-to-play then there would be no reason not to give it a shot. The combat is quite fun and if you have experience with other MMO's like WoW, dungeon boss fights will feel like an entirely new experience.

I've heard good things about Guild Wars 2. I played the first one years ago and I really enjoyed it. Before that I was playing Asheron's Call. Now that was an MMORPG! So many hours spent playing that one...

I've heard lots of good things about TERA so I'd try that. I've tried getting into MMOs again but it's hard when nobody wants to talk. I might just be imagining things or comparing it too much to my better memories of playing but I just can't seem to make friends who actually want to talk and play together. It's horrible because that's the best thing about MMOs.
