RADWIMPS (also known as RAD) is a J-Rock music group formed in 2001 while the members were in high school. Their name is a mix of the English words 'rad' and 'wimp', and according to their official website, it is a term they coined themselves meaning "excellent weakling" or "superlative coward".

RADWIMPS is an awesome band. I recentely found out about them from a good friend. I like their up beat tempo style in setsunarensa. I also like their song Kiseki. So feel free to discuss about the awesome band RADWIMPS and why you like them or why you don't like them.

radwimps makes good music yea, but i think their main selling point is their lyrics.

i mean, the way they phrase some of the ideas about love is so ordinary that its so good...not sure if you get what im saying

like in "25ko me no seishokutai"
"what are we gonna do in our next lives? being reborn again and having to meet each other would be too tedious, so lets just be reborn as one person, that way we wont have any fights and one wont die before the other.... when we're happy, we'll laugh twice as much, and leave twice the wrinkles on our face"

simple idea, but one heck of a line

pretty much most of their songs have tight lyrics like that

oh, and probably the best one would be "so no one could cry in the corner, your the one who made the earth round, right?" from yushinron

It surprises me that they have such a tiny fanbase. I know that they'd be wildly popular if more people listened to them.

As for my favorite song, it's definitely Hekkushun.

:) Have you heard their latest single yet?

tiny fanbase? their latest single "ordermade" hit #1 on the Oricon rankings(japans most accredited ranking charts) when it came out. you can't do that with a small fanbase

I was talking about their online fanbase. Perhaps I haven't been hanging out in the proper circles, but it seems to me as though, in the online community, people tend to go for bands of the VK variety.

probably only english online sites your talking about,
on mixi(japan's current popular social network service) it has communities people can set up, and on the radwimps community, they has 114,225 members.
to put that into perspective, here are some others i just searched up that i think are considered popular and mainstream
mr.children (148,356)
hamasaki ayumi(71,318)
utada hikaru (32,546)
arashi(22,235)
L'Arc en Ciel (62,509)

definitely not minor even online

:) I'm aware of mixi. In fact, many of my friends use it. Admittedly though, apart from Livejournal, I don't bother with any of those social networking sites, so I was definitely not aware of their community. That said, I'm deeply impressed by the numbers.
